2010 North Central Judging Seminar

It is not too early to start thinking about next season and with that I am announcing that the 2010 North Central Judging seminar will be held in Muncie, In at the AMA Headquarters (same as last year) on April 16, 17, and 18.

On Friday April 16 you can arrive as early as noon and fly at site 3 (also known as show center) until dark. This is an informal session however there will be upper level pilots available to help with any questions, set up and maneuvers.

Saturday April 17 will find us at the conference room in the AMA Headquarters for classroom instruction. Check-in will start at 8:30 am. and class will start at 9:00 am. The instruction portion of the seminar will last until around 2:00 or 3:00 when we will adjourn to Site 3 to fly.

Sunday April 18 starts at Site 3 where the practical portion of the seminar takes place. Manuevers will be flown by our demo pilot(s) both correctly and incorrectly then we will go through the 2010 sequences and judge the demo pilot on each maneuver.

Lunch will be provided on Saturday during the classroom session and hand outs including the IMAC Flying and Judging guide will be given to each participant.

Let me stress to everyone that the Seminar is not the same every year. Last year was a first in the North Central where the class divided into two, one group going over the criteria in the "red book" and one group discussing more advanced criteria and "gray areas" and how those are handled. I really would like to see more people who have attended the seminars in the past and think they have nothing to offer to reconsider their decision. Last years advanced class was very enlightening--one of the more enjoyable classroom experiences I have ever had.

Registration has not yet been worked out but that information will be forthcoming. This information is also on the IMAC website and a thread started there.

I'm at a judging seminar every year and think that every pilot should do the same.

This is also a rules cycle year, so there may be some new things to look at and discuss...

Thank you Curtis, I totally agree. I haven't missed a judging seminar since my first one in 2003.
