The Futaba TM-8 will give you all 8 proportional channels, same for the Spektrum DM8.
You cannot get the 9th on/off channel, since that is only functional in PCM mode, with conversion modules you must set the transmitter to PPM mode

Yep, exactly!

When I first made the switch to 2.4GHz, that's the same setup I went with, a 9C with a TM-8 module. No problems at all!!

The Hitec system will work and it's only ONE easy payment of $129.99 and you get TWO telemetry capable receivers.

Need a 9Ch RX? Same combo with TWO 9Ch RX,s $199.99!

Compatible with 7U,8U,9C,9Z,10C.

I would have gone with Futaba is they hadn't been greedy about it. Nothing's changed either. Flame away.

$440 for a TM-8 and (2) 8-channel receivers. Spectrum module and (2) 7-channel receivers $210.

So from what i can see there both great moduals, and other then the price or keeping it in the Futaba family there isn`t much of a difference? or is there something major that on brings to the field that the other doesn't?

I want to echo what Mike has said.

Before you dump any money into extending the life of your 9C (which is a decent radio, I have owned one for 10+ years) look into the Hitec Aurora 9. It's really a quantum leap in radio technology.

For $439.00 you get a full 9 channels, AFHSS, touch screen, telemtry that works today, excellent 8 ball-bearing gimbals, and the easiest setup that I have seen. I have owned Spektrum DX7, JR x9303 and 12x, Futaba 9C and 12FG, and the Aurora.

I would probably buy the Aurora over the 12FG if they were the same price. The Aurora is half the price of a 12FG. It's a no brainer.

If you're going to look at a new system, try the new Futaba 8FG 8 + 2 channels, 2.4 GHz FASST transmission, and the ability to set any function to any switch, knob, stick, or slider.

Did I forget to mention that the A9 also has the ability to assign any function to any channel and then assign any stick, switch or slider to that function?

Add to that the ability to do in-flight adjustment of trimming mixes. You can trim your knife edge mixes in flight for a one shot setup! And for less money!

I use an ASSAN 2.4 Module and RX from www.hobbyking.com on my 9C
I have been flying a 50 Hirobo Heli, 60 Yak & numerous smaller electrics etc. for more than 3 months.
It works like magic. The Module + 2 RX is for less than 100 bucks.... For that price you may try them before junking your TX !!! People are flying turbines on these and thats what gave me the confidence to try..

Cheers..
