Too high AOA. Less elevator, or more power. Caused a tip stall. just my guess.

tip stall or over correction with aileron. ive seen this happen were some people try to correct direction with aileron on landing instead of using rudder. the entire landing seamed pretty shakey to me.

The blame is going to be found between your thumbs and your hat. It's somewhere along that path.
I'd say over-correction and bad throttling. |

The quick burst of power only increased that Angle of Attack (pitched the nose up a tad) and the wing stalled. Then the tip dropped and the rest is history. I'm betting that if you take in all of our comments and let them soak in real good, you could go out and try it once more and you'll grease it in. Now then....... Once again. And this time, think grease!

I don't have speakers here at work, but definatly poor throttle management and over-correction would have made things worse. just let the plane sink in and be SMOOTH on the inputs.

Basic aerodynamics. The plane got too slow for the wings to maintian lift. The slight aileron deflection increased drag and decreased lift on one side. Failure to use rudder to hold heading led to incorrect judgement in the use of ailerons. Goosing the elevator in an attempt to horse it off the ground assured a hard impact.
In full scale it's called an approach to landing stall. Short version is a stall induced by incorrect pilot input. |

You already had the nose too high at the very beginning of the video (stalling and losing speed), let the plane settle with more speed-nose down to level flight, right when the plane is about to touch down just ease back on the elevators (grease it in).
Do you have dual rates set up in your radio? In mine, I have 3,- high (use when flying and throwing the plane around), medium (for taking the plane off) and low (use when landing), each setting has different exponential set ups and makes flying and landing A LOT easier. Have someone experienced look at your radio for you. Hope that helps! It can be fixed , sounds like you snapped your landing gear.

Was the left landing gear wheel on the plane? Doesn't look like it to me! On any grass field with a wheel missing=ouch, snaparoo!
If you had both wheels on, it would of made it through that! |

Too much mojo too late IMO
I think toss in a bit of prop torque into that disaster mix. Try taking off that slow and see if you don't need some right rudder correction. Next time I'd suggest more airspeed for landing approach. |

Tip Stall, no doubt. Been there, done that. When you're so close to stall speeds, any excessive inputs cause drag and you instantly pass the critical stall speed. Yaks usually don't drop one tip like that unless there is some aileron corrections that aggravated the stall more on one side... can't really tell on this resolution of video.
Bigger wheels/tires on Grass will help out a lot. Those wheels look small for that model. Might have saved the gear collapse? That hit ddin't look bad enough to break a gear-plate out if the airframe was solid and the wheels were larger to ride over the rough/soft surface a bit better. |
