Electric practice plane?

Hi Guys,

I am planning on gainging my first Giant scale aerobatic airplane ove this winter, and I was wondering if it would make sence to keep my practice up on simulators, and an ELECTRIC PANE?

And if so, which one?

I have been looking into the Airfoilz Edge 540 NX, how are your thoughts on this one?

I would prob. be runniing an E-Flite 450-480 motor, 20-40 amp ESC, and a 1320mah 3cell 11.1 volt li-po.

I've also been looking at the Great Planes Yak 55 Flight Flex.
I like the idea of it being crash resistant, but I'm afraid that the in-flight strength just wouldn't be there.

I would be using the same electronics, as in the edge.

the simulator is a very useful tool. i tought my self to fly with it. i got the g4 when it came out then i upgraded it to the 4.5 most people say the 3.5 is good enough.

It's the biggest piece of crap in crap town.

Flies really really bad and I broke mine in half in about a week.

Unfortunately the indestructible planes usually fly the worst.

Find a inside place to fly

Buy a good foamy

Better yet buy 2

and fly

don't worry about if they break or not.

I'd go with a DW 38" Yak-54. The 'indestructible' planes just don't fly right as T.Bob mentioned. The DW Yak flies like an IMAC plane. Congrats on your first Giant scale plane as well!

I agree on the DW Yak! have the 28" and 38" awesome planes!

I'd also look into a foamy from lee ulinger models.

As far as The DW yak goes, how does it do for 3-d/freestyle?

Any one have any oppinions on the airfoilz?

it's really great!

I've wrung mine out HARD. It torque rolls well too! Here's a video of me maidening my second 28" Yak:

The plane was a little out of trim, but the DW's are great for 3D!

I've been trying to get information on the DW yak, and so far, have had not much luck.
Any-one want to point me in the right direction for information on it?

From what I found, there are a couple versions, small, and bigger, oviouslly, I would be looking at the bigger one with my power system, but would the plane still be too small for my current power system? (weight)

How much wind do you think this could handle? The place I fly indoors is fairly small, so I would want to be ablet to also fly out-doors on calm days. That is why I have been looking into the Airfoilz planes.

oh, I see they come in many different sizes!

I also see an edge that I am attracted to, do you think that there would be a major difference in the way that they fly?

How do you think these compare to the airfoilz?
