Flyin' Around
![]() |
Hi,
I wanted to get some opinions on the newer 2.4 ghz radios out there for my next purchase. I am looking at the Futaba 7C and the Spektrum DX7. They are both in my price range and have the features that I am looking for. I have been in this hobby for 20+ years and have always used Futaba until I recently bought an electric heli and tried the DX7. I liked it and it worked flawlessly, but don’t see it used a lot in fixed wing aircraft locally. I was hoping some of you that have used both could give me an opinion on these and help steer me in the right direction. Thanks… |

I use the DX7 on a 88" Yak with a 50cc, we have guys at our field that fly 35% airplanes with the DX7. I'm sure the Futaba is a good radio, but it seems like there are more recievers and bind & fly products for the Spectrum radio and also most JR recievers will work with Spectrum.... 2 cents

I own both radios, I preferred the 7C 2.4 especially with electrics that I can assign the timer to the throttle stick or any switch for that matter, very easy and simple to setup.
With glo aircraft/Helis, I like that the 7C has a built in throttle cut feature, with the DX7 you can do this but you will need a mix. Doug. |

Your right - to each his own. I can't say enough good things about it. Great radio.

Between these two the 7c is more capable as far as programming goes. Dx7 feels better but thats about the only benefit. |

Have you held each one in your hands? The radios are so similar in capabilities and performance that you'd be hard pressed to find an over riding difference pointing to one or the other, so it might boil down to how it feels in your hands. |

I beleive that you cannot go wrong with any of the two, what anyone thinks or likes more simply its a matter of opinion, I used to have a DX7 and worked without a problem, also had a few friends that had the 7c also without problems, obviously you will find in one a few things that the other dont have and viceversa. The only great difference that I see beetween each other is model memory capacities 7c has 10 model memory while DX7 has 20. I guess that if in the future you had plans to have more than 10 models (like me) then you should go with the DX7. Good luck in your decision!!!!!
