Mike,
In relation to the 7955 being lipo/lion capable how about the 5625 for a throttle choke. I love Hitec servos and want nothing but! These HD look like they could work but would rather stick to something I can program and trust!!!

No, Hitec servos are built at our own facility in Korea.

Mike.
Mike, what would be the torque and speed for the 7955 and 7950 using A123 at 6.6V nominal? Thanks

luvthestang- I'd opt for the analog/coreless motor 985MG over the digital/3-pole motor 5625's w/A123's.

rcflyer- Just multiply the 6V spec by 1.1. So... 7955 333x1.1= 366.3/ 7950 403 x 1.1= 440.3 for A123's at nominal.

Mike,
Are 5955's equivalent to 7955's in their ability to hanndle 7.4? Aside from the MG vs TG what else is the difference in the 7954 and 7955?

No, they use a different motor but it has been reported that the 5955's have been succesfully used with 7.4v, but we're not officially supporting it like we do with the 7955's.

The 7954SG is the same servo (essentially) as the 7955 but with lightened steel gears.

Mike - I just read your post where you recommend the 985MG over the 5625 for throttle (using A123s). I have 2 40% planes with the 5625s, both using A123s, so I was wondering what the advantage would be? I just assumed digital would always outperform the analog. Thanks for the information!

The coreless motor always outperforms a the 3-pole motor but the digital circuit does help bridge the gap; not all the way though.

Ultimately the coreless motor servo, since it's built on a better platform, is more reliable. I doubt you would notice much difference in performance on a throttle though... it would be more noticeable if used on a control surface.

But I tend to stick closely to the philosophy: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

THat is an excellent point....

Why would Hitech keep the same Gauge Wire on these monsters??
I would never place such a wire on a Brushless motor?

Hitech, I am sure, had thought about doing it?? What IS HOLDING YOU BACK???????

Make YOUR receivers to handle the bigger wire connections..
Place an adaptor in with the servo or sell extra so it can be connected to the regular gauge?????

JR already has a lipo ready receiver with large gauge noodles, now all you need is bigger wires...
Especially since these servos will be placed in 35%+!
They will HAVE to use LONNNNNG extensions the way it is...

I am deeply VEXED!

Futaba has a motor that won't wear out but a pot that will. Hitec has a motor that wears out but a pot that won't. Seems like we need to DIY a frankenservo

@Mike Mayberry:

is it possible for you to post a spec sheet of the measurements, especially servo mounting holes measurements to each other (length), and distance between holes (width), and heigth from the mounting to the top of the servo arm ?

looking so interesting, but i need to get the measurements to test if i get these servos in my plane, for example if i can modifiy my SWB servo tray to fit those servos (5955tg inside before).

please take a look at the modified pic,- then you know which one i mean.

Thanks, Chris

Hello All,

Here is some information on Hall-Effect Magnetic Rotory Encoders, when the page loads select the data sheet PDF. I am using these in a Stick Assembly I am building and in in general purpose custom non-contacting potentiometers products.

Will give you lots of good information!

The AS5163 is programmable which I use to set its parammeters.

Keep you eyes on Hyperion servos!

What we are looking for is a servo with a Brushless DC Motor and Non-Contacting Feedback Pot!

Happy Flying,
Cherokee Jim Mahoney

Mike is it published somewhere for the servo mounting hole locations for Hitec servos?

2 of the 7980TH's for a 40% rudder on unregulated A123's with about 1,200 oz of torque at 5.4 ounces weight for $310 at Chief Aircraft. They are a little slow but for rudders this should work great!!!!.
