Help! TOC Extra 260 35% ( Model TTR4637 -01 )

TOC Extra 260 35% ( Model TTR4637 -01 )

Is this the 107" version?? Website says 102" .

Trying to determine if a 3W 106CS will fit properly in the cowl. Primary concern is with the sparkplug Cap to Cap width.

The 3W 106CS Cap to Cap width is 304mm, 11.97 inches. DA100L is approx. 11.5 inches.

The 3W 106CS engine length is 183.5mm, 7.22 inches. Would my assumption be correct that the engine firewall is custom built by the assembler to set the proper length for the engine being utilized?

Ok took a measurement 5" back from the front of the cowl that should be in line with the plugs, the inside of the cowl were the top and bottom meet measures just under 12.50 and gets better as you move back. hope works out for you. the cowl has a 2" baffle and that measurement across just behind the baffle is 12.25

Dino69,

Thanks for taking the time to into check this for me. I surely appreciate it. With 12.5" available it should work very well. I will do some more checking into the 3w 106CS 3 view diagrams.

I am going to be flying IMAC Basic ( Senior Citizen ) beginning Jan. in SW Florida. In your experienced opinion, will this airframe work well for this endeavor.

Thanks again,

DR

IT DEFINATELY WILL! YOUR GONNA HAVE AN AWESOME PLANE! From what i know John Glezellis the Team TT TOC pilot flies his Da200 powered one in precision aka imac and his 170 powered one in 3d/freestyle! I saw him fly it and all i can say is! WOW! Good luck! Btw, i saw Dino's at the huckfest! its ONE STUNNING BIRD! These Toc-planes look better by the minute, TT is seriously doing a great job of improving their airplane lines! Take care!

Thanks, Dino and Andrew !

I am trying to attach the 3 view of the 3W 106CS. I think all the critical measurements are included or can be ascertained with the dimensions shown.

Hub to back plate is 183.5mm, the cylinders are 80mm in diameter. Distance from hub to plug Cap looks to be
136.5mm or 5.37" from the back of the prop hub, and due to length, 3/4" further back than the DA100.

I might have modify the air dam to go deeper into the cowl as the 3W engine is a longer by 3/4".

Thanks again Dino for looking into this so quickly. Appreciate it. Should be placing an order Monday AM through my LHS.

What is the wing area for this airframe?

cap to cap the 3w motor is 11.33" lots of room not sure of the sq of the wing have to figure it out

you will love this plane just set the cg on the middle of the wing tube and make the plane a hair nose heavy for imac helps it lock it in for all the big fast imac stuff neutral is fine all so thats how i have mine.

i should have a video of mine plane flying in John hands we are meets up to fly with each other sunday.

Dino,

Various 3W websites differ regarding the 3W106CS Cap to Cap dimension. I have posted a question on the RC Canada site and asked for assistance with the accurate dimension. When I get a response, I will post the correct 3 view drawing. Sorry for the confusion.

RC Canada responded. Cap to Cap dimension is 11.95".

What is the drop of the headers used in your build thread ??? Need to review header availability for the 3W.

rrunkel, the 3W-106 should fit into the TT Extra easily, the only real difference between it and a DA-100 is the 3W is about 3/4" longer. Make sure you offset the motor to the recommended right side(looking at the motor on the firewall) so when you add washers to the right side it will come back into the middle of the cowel. You may want to check with other owners to see if the washers are needed. I set up a 35% H9 Extra with the 3W-110 and did not offset the motor and now after adding washers to the right side(part of the trimming process to make the plane fly straight) I need to redrill the mounting bolts to the right to put the center of the prop back in the center of the cowel. Dino, maybe you can jump in here and respond to the washer plan.
I hope you will be using cannisters as the stock mufflers on the 106 will zero your sound scores. I am using the 3W-M-55 cans and they are very quiet. I also fly Basic( I have done 2 contests, plan a full season next year) in Central Fl and may see you at Land-o-Lakes IMAC contest. Get that plane in the air and start practicing, January will be here in no time and good luck. Anything else I can help with the 3W just pm me I also have a 3W-106.

Sherman,

Thanks for responding.

Cannisters will be installed.

I have visited the Land O' Lakes event the past two years. Hopefully, will attend as a basic class entrant this year.

I was also at the Ocala IMAC event last weekend. Interesting, I was sitting next to a gentleman with a 3W110 in an H9 Extra 260, directly behind the flight station on the right side, facing the runway !!!!!!!!! Perhaps, it was you that mentioned an ignition going back to Gerhard at AI for replacement.

I am pleased to hear the Cap to Cap dimensions are not an issue. Cap to Cap has been verified as 11.5", 1/2" wider than the DA100.

Is the firewall on this ARF prebuilt, then, dis-assembled and customized to fit the engine of choice? The right thrust should be able to be built into the firewall when the length is changed.

What is the degree of "right thrust" required? Actually, I would hope the "right thrust" was built in, so, if the sides of the firewall box are trimmed an equal length the "right thrust" would be correct after mods for engine length.

Thanks again,

DR

Is this correct ?
