I know about the nose weight issue. I really don't know what engine to go with. I want a heavy engine and that seems to be either a 3W 210 or a Moki 250. The 3W 210 will out fly the Moki 250. When I get closer to the finishing of the build I will make an engine decision on how much weight I need. How about a 14 cylinder radial at 25lbs. I'll get weight, scale prop size, and divorced all at one time. Anybody have a spare garage area and bedroom when that happens. About the weight issue I would like to keep it under 75 lbs. with engine included.

Barry,

On a slightly different topic; I bought some of your canopy rails last winter for a Ziroli P40 with fiberglass fuse.

I replaced the ball links with square EZ connectors with the EZ connector pins silver soldered to a brass strip canopy lower frame.

I tapped the "forward" EZ connectors (2 EZ connectors per side; front and rear ) to thread the titanium end fittings of CF pusrods which drive the canopy rearward thru the rail itself. The 2 pushrods (one per side) are connected via an aluminum yoke to a Sierra Precision air cylinder.

Worked out pretty nicely.

I am looking at the new Seidel 700cc radial he is coming out with for my 180 inch wingspan seafury and bearcat. I also do have a spare bedroom and garage for you.

Someone who installed a Moki radial in this forum not so long ago mentioned they need quite a lot of maintenance e.g oiling the cam followers etc prior to every flying session. This may be of interest to you when making a final decision.

You just have to do the oiling once per flying session,Flew a Balsa USA stearman Moki 250 at 54 LB's and it would hover at half throttle, awesome airplane!

I would like a radial but the cost is a bit higher than I can justify. I don't understand other than demand why they cost so much more tha twins or even 4 cylinders. The Moki 250 only puts out 15 hp and the 400 25 hp but it is way up there in cost. A 3W 210 dual electronic ignition twin is almost 21 hp and is heavy. I think that is what I will end up having to go with and a dummy radial up front. Here is the Dummy Radial I custom built for the Corsair when I had my 3W 200 twin. The prop shaft hole is already cut out for the 210. I included a pic of part of my wing joiner system but remember I still have to add one more receiver so it will be 9" long plus the spar will be 19" long. The receivers are welded together for ease in initial alignment and attachment. Also here is my fuel jug that is 55+ oz. and it is big. I have to try and fit that in behind the engine. It will fit but only after some removal of some of the cross braces that were used to keep the crutch in the proper shape until the formers were permanently glued in. I won't have to remove the hole cross member but it will need to have a concave area for the tank and foam to rest on.
