One funny thing I noticed, and it could have been the camera, was that the valves did not seem to be ruining all the time. They seemed to stop and go.....
Awesome engine!!!

Awesome engine!!!
They're all "running" just looks funny because of the two banks of cylinders and the firing order.

It actually looked as if the one cylinder I was starring at hit three times or so then stop for a bit. Not one cycle then a pause etc. but multiple cycles and an extended pause. Something that would not be related to firing order. It must have been the camera play tricks. I will watch it again later.

It has to be the coolest RC radial engine I have seen to date. I bet it costs a pretty penny

Should it be weathered or new? Shinny or flat?

Seidel told me that the 14 cylinder radial was not a production engine. It was basically built for himself as a show piece. That is what I was told when I was interested in that engine for my 180 inch seafury and 180 inch bearcat. He had told me that he is coming out with the 700cc radial around the first of the year. We seem to think the 700cc would be better for my application. Hopefully he will get it done by the first of the year. We will wait and see. We have not talked to him in a couple of month's to find out the statice of the engine.
Good luck with this build. It should be awesome.

I didn't notice that but it did seem like the pushrods were sloppy. Lets find things wrong with it so I'm not tempted to go broke and get divorced at the same time. It's always fun to find fault in something.

But it was still Sweet!

I meant to say that I am having difficulties getting in touch with my cutter so who knows when I can continue to build. I hate to wait.

The reason I wasn't able to contact Pat at Laser Cut USA was he was in the middle of moving his shop into a larger building. He told me this afternoon that he would have the rest of my modified kit ready and shipped either late this week or Monday the 16th at the latest. I decided to have my friends bosse's company do my wing joining spars on co. time instead of free. It will be some bucks but at least then when the rest of the kit gets here I can start building again.

Here are a few shots of my custom aluminum framed with rivets F4U-5N Canopy. I still need to seperate it between the two aluminum frame pieces so I can make it a slider but this should be easy. I'll just use my knife. This is extra thick styrene with real aluminum for the frame. Not Flite Metal. I will have to manufacre a part for the spine that was added to the 5N when they installed the raised canopy. In the pic's you will see where it is slightly higher than the longerons and rear bulkhead former. It still needs to be raised just a bit more to be scale. I like it and think it came out very well if I say so myself.

I received my new pull pull cable today. It is Surflon 90 lb. test salt water fishing leader line. It is nylon coated 1x7 stainless steel and it come in 30'+ lengths. I only got 30 and that should be more than enoguh if I am not wasteful for my large rudder and TW steering. I believe in going overkill if it doesn't effect the weight. This weighs very little and not enough to change anything except strength. I got it from Jann's Netcraft Fishing Supplies for $4.95 + $3.95 for the stainless steel crimps designed for this exact size line. Try some you will like it on your Monster planes especially you 3Der's that have such huge flying surfaces and tons of G forces.

VETTE,

Thanks for subscribing! I hope you enjoy the build. It should start back up real soon. I'm just waiting on wood and the rest of the modified kit. Pat at Laser Cut USA and I modified it so much to change it from a F4U-1D to the 5N that it is being cut in segments. Also we had to make modifications to the wing so I could have it in three pieces. I always like to keep the center section on the fuse so the plane can rest on it's wheels for ease of moving and loading it into and out of my van. I have to build a ramp so I can roll it up into the cargo area. I have a 1.5 Ton GMC Van that only has two seats up front and from the back ot the seats to the rear doors is 10 feet. It also has double side doors for ease in loading gear. I'll hang the outer wing panels in wing bags on the sides of the van. It will make a great transport vehicle for the Monster.

Now that my cowl makers backed out of our deal I have to make my own. I have been following along my Mentor's build thread of his 50 % enlarged Hellcat on RCSB. His name is Merlyn Graves if you all have heard of him. He is a well known builder and pilot. Anyway with his expert narrative and pictures it is like a step by step instruction book on how to make one. I also found a source that sells florist foam for table centerpieces or Chrismas Reeves. It is 14 1/2" in diameter and looks just like the nose of a Corsair's cowl. Here are pictures of Merlyn's making of his plug and my nose ring I can get.
