Default Floats on Hangar 9 Taylorcraft?

Has anyone here done floats on the quarter scale Hangar 9 Taylorcraft? It is the old one, Just pulled it out of mothballs. I'm running a G23 with a Mejzlik 16/8. I got the H9 cub floats for it, but am worried about it being a clipped wing and all. Am I nuts, or will it work? Ok, ok, I am nuts, BUT WILL IT WORK?? I figure on doing it soon for next spring, or in the goofy event that it actually snows this winter here in Virginia. Just might be fun, but I've never done floats yet.......

I keep banking on the winter being a doozy, every winter, but I'm starting to feel like the Redskin fans at this point. Hell, the last good snow storm we had here was in '96. My backs still killing me from that winter. Did you not live here at that time?

I have a set of floats for my 85.5" T-craft. Flies like a T-craft on floats.

Thats funny . I know it's not a big plane but I put floats on an old Avistar this summer with my son, flew it up in Iowa off the main channel of the mississippi, was a blast. We will be using it again there this winter when it snows.

It'll work fine with any of the 'standard' engines for the Taylorcraft ie: G20, G23, G26.

I moved west in '91. Last visit was in '93. I remember hella snow storms almost every year. I lived in Fairfax, close to DC, not that it makes a difference. I remember many good snow falls every year since '72. I cant believe you haven't had a good snow since '96. What happened???

We've been getting these little teasers, nothing big to bragg about. And yet, everytime the weatherman says "it's gonna snow....", all the yuppies in the area freak out and rush to the store, buy up all the H2O, milk, eggs, and batteries, and then try to figure out how to put their suv's into four wheel drive.

Did you ever get the T-craft rigged with floats?

I remember snow storms back there when i first started driving. My dad had a Ford Bronco. I would take the Bronco out in a storm with a tow rope around dinner time, and find a well traveled road with a steep hill. If it was iced up good only 4x4's could make it up. Some people were smart and could figure it out, but not most. Then after a while of constant snowing, no one without 4WD could. You could sit for days and watch people try to get up that hill. They would get a run going and get almost to the top then slide off to the side, or in a ditch or slide all the way back down. For hours i would charge $10 bucks a tow up the hill. One after another for hours. I would make hundreds in a evening. Especially a short, steep hill, it would take longer to hook em than tow/drag them up. Tow them to the top, go back down for the next. Basically everyone would want a tow because the traffic would be jammed up for miles back and people were trying to hurry home before it got really bad and they couldn't drive anywhere. It was like collecting a toll. This was when it would snow 2 feet etc. It seemed like for every 10 or 15 cars i towed up, someone would want to hold up the show lol, and try to make it up on thier own. Mind you this was during white outs. They would try 2 or 3 times while i blocked the oncoming traffic, LOL. Most would slide back down and almost hit the next car in line but waiting back at a distance knowing they would come down out of control. They all would give in eventually and fork up ten bucks. I would run out of gas before cars would stop trying. I d go fill up and come back or go to another spot. I miss those days. I miss Virginia. I dont miss the traffic jams. Except when it would snow.

Nah, have not even touched the box yet...... SOON!! The traffic is alot worst than what you probably remember. It has barely snowed here since '96.
