Armadillo Aerospace is a group based out of Mesquite Texas. They were the first to complete Leven 2 of the Lunar Lander X PRIZE Challenge. More pics and video here. John Carmack is the lead software engineer on the team, he is someone in the industry I greatly respect and his stuff is just damn cool. He updates the news on the site and the posts go into quite a bit of technical detail which is always an interesting read.

Well there is some controversy. The team that won, Masten Space Systems, set down closer to the target spot BUT they were allowed an extra day and that Armadillo didn't get. They were allotted two days, they couldn't get it started on Day 1 and on Day 2 is only did one leg and caught fire:
