Worst. Parking. Job. Ever... but victim gets new Hyundai

Who knew that BMW’s X5 had such extraordinary climbing capabilities? Who knew the folks at Hyundai Canada are so savvy when it comes to helping out forlorn Elantra owners – and scoring major PR points in the process?
By way of explanation, when Tripta Kaushal, 62, paid a visit to Extreme Fitness in Thornhill, Ont. recently, the only thing extreme about Kaushal’s workout was her parking performance.
The Richmond Hill, Ont. woman casually drove her black BMW X5 into the club’s parking lot, glided into a parking spot and slowed to a crawl. Then, faster than one can holler, “Monster Jam!”, Tripta inexplicably buries the gas pedal. The obese Bimmer goes on to mount two compact cars, Gravedigger-style.
By the time Kaushal hits the brakes, the BMW’s front bumper is perched upon the other two vehichles’ rooftops. Kaushal then nonchalantly reverses her SUV and exits the parking lot.
However, the escapade was caught on the club’s surveillance camera. The resulting video has emerged as ao online video hit the world over, receiving such comments as, “Ich bin heute streichel bedürftig wer will chatn oder telefnieren” from the likes of SexiiAnna91.

Although the BMW emerged apparently unscathed, one of the cars it ran over – a 2004 Hyundai Elantra – was “extensively damaged” as they say down at the collision reporting centre.
At least this time a hit-and-run motorist didn’t get away Scot-free. The owner of the Elantra, Todd Jamison, is also the club’s systems administrator and he was able to help police nab Kaushal thanks to the videotape evidence. Kaushal was subsequently charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

And there’s a happy epilogue to the story. Hyundai Canada decided to embrace “a random act of kindness” by presenting Jamison with a brand new 2010 Elantra.
“We wanted to help the guy,” says Hyundai’s Barb Pitblado.
Wow, who knew such automotive altruism existed – especially during an economic downturn?
All of which got me thinking: since the culprit lives in the same town as yours truly – and since my ’93 Prelude is a wee bit past the best-before date – methinks I will make it a point to park my coupe in front of any ebony-hued X5 driven by a sixtysomething female.
Should Kaushal again be lacking in parking prowess, Honda Canada please take note: I’ll settle for an Accord coupe EX-L; red exterior with chrome door handles.
