Hey Lucky, good to hear from you again. Folks it looks like we are almost set for having an event. I think, atleast for this year, we have to change the location just a bit. As of yesterday, we are going to get the Slaughter gym at UVa. on March 6th. The gym is has 3 full size basketball courts in it and the ceilings are very high. It also has a hall that swapmeet/vendors could use. The parking is better too, it is right there. All of the other sites would have required a good bit of walking. I am going to get this sanctioned, but it probably will not be in any magazines, so once everything is set in stone, I will post a note here and we will try to email all of the Va. clubs and maybe try to get you guys to spread the word. Next year, we will plan this sooner and get some publicity in the magazines. The very final details are still being ironed out, but try to save this date and we will try to make this a very large event, once a year for the central East Coast area. Spring break begins on this weeknd, so you should not have to worry about UVa. students walking in front of you and expecting you to stop your 2000 lb. moving vehicle on a dime. Those really smart kids amaze me sometimes. The area has lots to do for family/girlfriends/boyfriends that are not interested in rc events. Stores, hotels, resturaunts are all over the area, within just a couple of minutes drive. |

We have a date......March 13th 2010
We have a location..Slaughter Rec building on UVa grounds Great parking....HUGE building. Tons of room. There will be several things going on at one time, in different rooms. We took some pics and I will get those up later today or tonight. Did I mention it was "huge". Just a heads up to everyone, pass it around, I hope this is a well attended event. That will deceide if we can do it again in the future. |
