Well I really liked my 30% Wild Hare Extra 260. It was one heck of a plane. Will probably buy another one.. But on to the story of its passing. Well today I thought was going to be a great day to fly. I was about 8 minutes into the first flight when I decided to add more aileron deflection. So I landed, while the plane was running I added more travel. When I looked at the plane all surfaces where not moving, but the engine was running. So I killed the motor and rebound the plane. I then charged the Rx battery again to be safe. I also did a range check, all OK. Well 8 or so minutes into the next flight it did it again!. This time I was about 3/4 throttle down on the deck. It did a snaproll and augered in.. All I could do was admire the fine snaproll my plane did all by itself. Well the problem was located to a faulty connection on the battery... So my plane has found a new home in a trash can in the garage! THE END....

Sad to see that happen. On the bright side though you get to shop for a new plane!

Definately sucks. It always hurts to see a plane you like go in....especially from equipment failure. I do know that all of my gassers have FAILSAFE regulators so that if.....i.e. when with the switch fails, the reg defaults to "on" and your good to go. If not a failsafe regulator, I will sometimes wire up 2 HD switches in parallel so that if one fails, the other can do the job.

Well, I can't fault the radio... but the battery is what went bad. When I checked it before the flight it was 8.4v after it was 3.8v.. So I guess I had a bad connection on a cell. That is what most likely caused the radio to act goofy the flight before. Thanks all for the kind words! But for what ever reason it really did not bother me when it went in.. I just kept thinking about a new winter project and hoping the motor was good. Did rip the ignition wire in half and trashed the muffler!
