I make new blocks from 3/8th ply to avoid the shim and tie in the end's. Probably not necessary but I do it anyway. If you use Cardens you'll need a lite ply shim over the 1/4 inch block supplied. Also do your self a favor and pre drill the blocks dead center, hope this helps..

Walt,

I've never met you nor have I talked to you, but I must say that you appear to be a Gentlemen and a Scholar.

Thanks for all your inputs and guidance.

This is how I did mine, I also am using a incidence pin along with the two hold downs which are the DA pins and thumb nuts.

Are the gussets per plans, or did you feel you needed additional strength in that area?

Yeah I think the best option is to butt them up against those braces like you have. Thats a high stress area, the stronger the better.

There you go Buddy your fixed, I think Dennis has layed it out like this forever. And there is so many ways to skin a cat Dan. After you called I seen this. LOL
Here is my 10 yr old Carden 330 the way me and Hueff did it in 1998. And before Hueff went to work at DA we use to Make our own rotation bolts. Then when Hueff worked for DA they started making them.. Now remember guys this Carden is 10yrs old. Since you have my drill press I just made one old rotation set up for a sample. It is a
1-3/4" alumium bolt, 1"X1"X 1/4" Block and aluminum stock that threaded over bolt thickness of fuse thickness. bolt and block was glued into wing root. How time goes..
Looking good Dan.

Doing the 45's with a tool that I saw in one of Walts threads, it works great.

Pin the stringer over the plans

line up the tool ( 3/8 ) balsa

mark the angles

cut
