Hi guys just a quick ask for you out there. I have a brand new crrc pro 50R and
have run a tank through it and all went well really impresses with how well it ran, now a week later go to run it and it is missing badly and not revving and occassionally backfiring and then quits. I'm thinking it's the crapping Chinese plug that came with it or theCDI unit Any thoughts?? |

That would be my first guess. They are NOT known to be reliable or last. Replace it with a new NGK plug. If the problem persists then you probably have a bad CDI.

Their weakest link is the CDI and the plug cap. The plugs are not generally the issue. Check the timing also, they are notorious for being way off, should be 28 degrees BTDC. An Rcexl ignition does wonders for that engine, I've installed many of them on it.

I have one of the prototypes of this engine.
Had the ignition unit go bad in the 1st few days of testing. It was replace with a second unit which also went bad a few weeks later. I am running an RCEXL ignition now and have zero problems. My revamped prototype was way out of time also, check your timing. Make sure the hub/mag ring did not come loose and move.

I don't the timing has moved it's still very solid did you Cdi pack up all together or did it make it miss fire like mine. I have pulled the plug out and it sparks when you turn the engine over but I think it's still not rite when it fires. Very frustrating as it went so well first run

spark plugs will fire out of the engine but miss fire when put under a load, there have been several reports of these china plugs going bad after ot during the first flight, just change it and you might be happy with it

The 2nd on was breaking up. CRRC ignitions are kow for poor connection at the plug/cap, if it is not tight it will break up/miss fire. Try a small hose clamp on the plug cap and try it again, if the miss goes away the plug cap connection to the spark plug is loose. This is a quick and easy try to see if it works.
