Default Prop Balancing Question

I bought a Xoar 22x10 laminated prop for my Brillelli 60cc motor. The prop was balanced but the hub was not. I did the Velcro method to balance the hub. Now the blades are balanced but the prop will not stay in the 10 & 4 position. It will do the 2 & 8 position to check for the hub being balanced. Any ideas of what could be wrong or if anything is wrong period?

It does this no matter if the side without Velcro or with Velcro is up.

Default Re: Prop Balancing Question

I can't wait to hear if someone has a solution as I've been balancing hubs with that method also this year. A friend showed me to first make sure the ballancer shaft, that you put the prop on, is perfectly level. I shim mine up with just the shaft in the ballancer & get it perfectly level. Also we countersink the hole on each side of the hub so there's no burrs there. He said think of where the heavy part of the hub is, sort of in that area as you have an imagiary pendulum swinging at the very bottom to show you the actual heavy spot on the hub. Or where it is on top, I think !! I may not be explaining this perfectly but now mine always come out staying anywhere I put it.
Thanks, John

Default Re: Prop Balancing Question

sounds interesting ben....most of the time i balance the tips, to be perfect, then start to check the hub balancing....believe me i tested lik 30 times and sometimes need a lot of velcro....most of the times i put some, then start to add CA to get perfect balance. I test mines with 11 and 1 position. Also do this....most of us put the front hub side lookint to use....like you use to install on the engine. Put in the balancer in the other way...the propeller facing back, and let us know what it does.
