For my next project I plan to use a can(due to noise issues) on a new DA-50R, inverted installation. All of my experience with the 50R has been with a Slimline Pitts style muffler. I would appreciate suggestions as to which header(for inverted installation) and can to use to use. Furthermore, I would appreciate responces from those who actually operate the header/can combination suggested. Thanks
.

i use the ks rear dump cannister and a flex header from DA. i have been having alot of issues with breaking my flex header though. use the soft mounts on the high spots on the can. you will see if you get it. that has helped alot. also get some "blue monster" teflon tape and wrap the crap out of the flex portion. very quiet. especially if you go with a mejzlik prop. if you plane is going to be heavy i would suggest a tuned pipe with that motor.

I use one of the inexpensive MT Engines universal canisters with flex header. I sell these on my site so I wanted to use it and make sure it was good quality. I have it on my 3D Hobbyshop 89" Slick with the DA 50. So far it has held up great and it is very quiet. I have not had any issues with the flexible header cracking and it has worked out very well.

Was using the tdk 75 with the flex header then switched to the 50mm dual outlet Zimmerman with the solid header I like this setup a lot better 7000rpm with a 23x8 mej. I'm still a little on the rich side, quiet, throttle response is excellent. EF YAK 88 Stripe |
