Default Hitec Spectra 2.4 Module system

I wanted to start a separate thread about the Hitec Spectra 2.4 Module system, it was getting hard to pick through the Aurora thread.

Ive got a Futaba 8U that I have a Spektrum module in and I dont like the antenna adapter on the module, it sticks out about an inch and a half and im worried about breaking it. The fact that you have multiple RXs cut and pasted all over the plane with Spektrum is starting to bother me too. I saw that Chitty was flying 40% and 42% airframes with the 7-channel Hitec Optima RX that has ONE antenna.

The question is, how does one antenna get 3-D reception? If not then I wonder what a Flight-Log type device would say about the 7-channel Optima RX. I just want to know if this would be the right system for a Giant-Scale plane. (the 9-channel RX has 2 antennas but still just one RX, and a Hitec rep. said the extra antenna is just for piece of mind).

I've been waiting for this system to be available on Tower, but it keeps pushing back. I finally put it on back order to see if it will come through before I buy a DX7 from another club member in a couple weeks.

I was reading the user manual. The manual implies an active telemetry link between the transmitter module and the reciever that provides a lower receiver battery alarm. Does this function with the OPTIC 6?

The module has a speaker that emits an audible alarm when the RX batt (auto 4 or 5 cell detection) is "low", the exact voltages can be found in the module manual, i forgot what they were.

We've had zero issues with the single BODA (Boosted Omni Directional Antenna) with our AFHSS technology.

The module is compatible with the Hitec Prism 7/7X, Eclipse 7, Optic 6 as well as Futaba 7U, 8U, 9C, 9Z, and 10C transmitters.

The low battery warning is built in and auto detects 4 and 5+ cell packs. Warning voltage (audible beeping) is 4.4 and 5.5v (4/5 cell.)

This module will also be compatible with the "Sensor Station" and sensors (when available) but you would have to connect it to a PC via the HPP-22 USB interface to view and log the data. The Hitec Aurora 9 uses this same module although interfaces digitally for low latency (14ms) and has the ability to see the telemetry in real time on the large 5.1 back-lit LCD touchscreen.

Servo power input voltage is fine up to an unregulated 2S Lipo (More actually but I don't think your servos will appreciate it.)

The SPC (Supplemental Power Connection) which can power the RX independently is good up to 35V!

They get plenty of them with even more coming soon. Remember they are also a distributor (Great Planes) so not all they get goes to Tower. So, not until every dealer and Tower customer that has back ordered them get's them, with stock to spare, will they show as "in stock" on Towers website. The same goes for the Aurora 9 too.

Anybody have any experience on how long its been taking to fill back orders for these at Tower? I've been watching for it since May, and the availability just keeps pushing out. That means they're either very popular, or there are production/supply issues. Which is it?

I did finally put it on back order last week, but I'm eager to get it, and wondering how long I'll have to wait.

Very popular!

We just shipped a bunch more recently so it shouldn't be too long.

Well I followed the recommended link and ordered the system Tuesday night with UPS Second Day air. Module plus two Optima 7 recievers. It was delivered yesterday. Took two minutes to get the module installed in my Optic 6. Put the reciever into my PRC Yak-54. Had to do some monkeying to keep the wires away and find a good spot for the reciever antenna. Ended up taping the antenna to the foam inside the turtledeck just behind the canopy. Set up is a two cell A123 (2300 mah), 5 HS-7955 TG servos, an HS-425 for the throttle.

I have to say - I LOVE THIS SYSTEM! And its easy to switch back to 72 mhz for those planes I haven't converted yet. It was absolutely rock solid. I'm just sorry I waited so long to make the move.
