My LHS owner and flying buddy says he is getting the first one to go out to dealers and he going to test it on a good size 30% plane such as the PAU SU-26. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Talked with Frank Noll at the AMA show today about it. Unfortunately it did not make the shipping crate to be at the show, but Frank has had a chance to fly it and said it is a very nice engine. For me the idea of a big OS motor is just too cool. They were the gold standard of nitro motors for most of my time in the hobby (44 years) and I may have to find a home for this one!!

This is the OS page:

Wonder what they have for mufflers, headers and canisters?

Price aside, that engine sure looks like a real winner. Front or rear rotary valve is an awesome way to to tune an engine just the way you want it. Vastly superior to piston port or reed. I've been wondering why more mfg's haven't been going to it. I know it's more moving parts but you can get some screaming power out of a small engine by stuffing the case and tuning the valve.

They don't. The bolt pattern and exhaust port are reported to be the same as the DL/DA so any of those should work but I have been informed by reliable sources that O.S. has no muffler for this engine and no plans to build one so you can add the exhaust into the cost as well. Personally, at that price, I would buy a DA or 3W first especially considering DA's great service. Of course I've got plenty of great engines way below that price so the matter won't come up but if it ever did.............Desert Aircraft here I come!

if you have tower discounts cupons it will cost $509.99 shipped. Not bad at all. And then you can look the muffler that you want.

i have been using OS engines for 22 years, and i really love them, i still have a few 20 years old engines running perfect. i did have a problem with my .81 Alpha 4 strokes and they replace it for a brand new in box engine after my issue. Dont think things coming from China should be label for "bad", even the BEST engines that everyone loves here had parts from, China, Taiwan and Europe, they just dont say anything. I have a DLE55 and im really happy with this engine, never seen a issue with it.

Post pictures when you get yours!!!! i really want to see it by a costumers/member.

Well I hope, for your sake, you don't have to buy a geared starter to start it as none of the videos have ever shown anyone hand flipping this thing. Rotary valve engines are typically difficult to start the first run of the day due to clearances between the valve and port face not sealing perfectly. That could be the reason they are all using electric starters.

I have seen a video of a guy hand staring one .I think its just a big 55AX in reality. Anyway its in Canada now waiting border clearance, I am looking forward to mounting an engine and not having to fool with standoffs and carb holes in the firewall I also bought the end early to go through the learning process
