Default Stupid question - Clunk Line

Hi everyone.
Trying to figure out what the best clunk tubing material is for my gasoline planes. I've had Tygon harden up on me and I don't want to loose a plane to it (like my friend did). One friend of mine said I could use silicone tubing, but isn't this not gasoline safe??? Example of Silcone tubing that he recommends:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/2LRH1?Pid=search

I had another friend tell me that glow fuel uses silicone tubing, so don't use gas with it.

Yet another friend tell me that there is this "aerotrend" tubing that would work better than tygon. Yet, the aerotrend web site is currently not there and I don't see any tubing that is smaller than 1/8th and most of my planes are about the 26cc range, so I was only using 3/32 tubing.

Anyone else have any better suggestions or wisdom??

Thank you
David

Check this thread - http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...el-tubing.html

You want to use Viton fuel tubing for inside of the fuel tank, doesn't harden at all. Some people are using it for their entire fuel system.

I use Sullivan fuel tubing. Works great! Sullivan lasts me an entire season with no problems. I have never had it harden up on me. I use it on the whole plane. I use 5/32 i.d. everywhere.

You cannot use silicone tubing, period.
One thing you may be doing wrong is emptying your fuel tank. Tygon hardens up if it is left to dry out. Keep fuel in your tank and the tygon will last through the season. Beyond that, no matter what kind of clunk material you use, you should replace it.

Did you purchase some from AirWild? It says out of stock when I try to place it in my shopping cart.
Aerotrend tubing has been out of stock everywhere for a long time now. I know because I've been trying to buy some more for a long time now.
I've heard they won't be producing it any more.

This is the stuff. A little expensive to use everywhere. I'd just use it for clunk line, then tygon outside the tank.

I've found that the blue aerotrend tubing hardens after a while just like the yellow stuff does. I've tried the black Hayes tubing for the clunk line and it is too soft so it just splits and comes apart on the first flight.

Just use regular Tygon but replace it each season or whenever it starts to stiffen up. B&B fuel tanks make the swapout easy to do.

If you use tygon, leave fuel in your tank. It keeps the line submerged in the gas and will not haren up. Been doing this for years and everything is perfect.
