I have 3W 210B2 CS TS and KS exhaust system KS-1090-5 B. (CompARF YAK-55SP 3.3m)
What header lenght should i use? The prop is a 31 x 12 x 3 blade Mej A have i manual from KS (on the pict). Please, any one help me. I think that the default lenght of header is to much. |

Dzhamal , nice to hear from the other side of the world . Its 32 deg in the shade here today
and Tiger Woods is playing at one of the local golf coarse , Man its a small planet these days . Ok your problem with the 1090 , your about to get a whole lot of worries using the tuned pipes . The easy answear is go around 290mm to 300mm long and thats it , but your going to run into some big "ISSUES" . First :- the 31 x 12 3 blade is going to be to small with 1090. As the revs go up the crank case pressure goes up . What happens with the 1090 is it goes so high it blows the bearing seals and the result is a lean run . After that the top end gets hot and the pistons seize . This has been the result of 12 months of testing and we know what will happen . Second :- for some strange reason the 1090 seem to advance the exhaust timing to the point where there is detonation . This causes the hub to spin on the crank , all of a sudden the engine will get very hot and become very hard to start . Third :- The engine has to be run very rich with the 1090 , the high revs need a lot of fuel . The result is that your mid range goes to hell and the tuning will be either on the pipes or off the pipes and running very rough in the mid range . I know it all sounds bad but on the bright side is that the standard 3W headers and cannisters work very well in this plane . We did some testing last weekend the engine surprised everyone . It was flown through the 2010 Unlimited IMAC sequence and it pulled hard all the way and never lacked power . I am no expert pilot and it even did well with me on the sticks . The plane was then given to one of our top pilots and even he said the 210 in the 3.3 has all the power needed . IMHO , sell the pipes and use the standard 3W headers and cannisters . Stuart Davies

Thank you for your hot answer! ![]() 1.What do you think about KS-cannisters? I have the KS-headers yet . Can i buy only KS-cannisters a use it with headers (which i have yet)? Or 3W headers is will be better?2.Whether headers have value in this case? (if i use canisters) Brg, Last edited by Dzhamal; 11-13-2009 at 02:38 AM. |

Dzhamal , have a look on the 3 W site , it should tell you there what the std header length
is for their cannisters . As for the K&S cannisters you may have to contact k&S direct to find out the best settings fot the 210 . The 3W cannisters are huge but they do let the engine breathe . Shame you cant get the 3W cannisters as thew work very well . ZDZ may be a good a good place to ask the question because they have had a 210 for years . Stu

Hello, we recommend a neutral header-lenght from 220-280 for the engine 3W 210 B2 with the muffler KS 105V-5. Best regards Klaus Krumscheid P.S. I think 240mm will be a good length. |
