You get what you pay for. World models should stick with building tiny little glow planes. Few years ago, a buddy of mine after I told him not to, bought the World Models 33% Ultimate, which they got the designs and built the kits from Aeroworks. Only problem was they were not whipping the kids working at the factory hard enough because they were not putting enough glue in the wing spars around the wing tube area. The rest is history.I've seen it happen twice with my own eyes, and heard numerous accounts of the same thing happening all over the place. I also saw it happen with one of their trainers.
Don't say you werent warned.

Huh....I havent heard anything bad about the Extra. And the 28% 330L seems to be pretty popular.

Hopefully, they've gotten better. But the price is just too cheap. Good luck.

I had one of these in the patty scheme for my first gas plane (powered by a G38 zenoah). I brought it second hand after approx 300 flights, then put another 300 odd flights on it before selling in still in good condition. It was a great flyer, it was alittle heavy and under powered by todays standards but it did the best tumbles of any plane I have owned.

Thank you for the alert, scatsob. One of my flying buddies and I each bought one. Best deal of the year.

No problem, I couldnt believe it when I saw the price. More than half off just because of the color. I just recieved mine yesterday. I wish I had the scratch for a second kit for a spare, this is the nicest ARF I have seen. Very high quality.

scatsob,

Mine came with CA hinges instead of their 'standard' metal ones. The overall quality is no comparison to SD, Pilot, GP, etc. What's your impression so far?

I gotta be honest and tell you that your about to make a huge mistake buying any WM planes they really are the pits. Lets see now I owned one after buying it at a swap meet it was an Extra 300 90" span yadda yad.
Problems I first encountered:
LG was fiberglass and so soft it flattened upon landing.
Covering came lose and could not be stuck back.
Wing tube had 1.5" of slop at the tip on one wing.
The pilot weighed 5oz the canopy was 12 the entire hatch was over 1.25 pounds.
Bolts broke when used same for screws.
Tail was over sized and more scaled to a 35% model.
Servo ports in the airframe came loose after fitting the servos
Formers were placed at random angles.
Glue joints you could drive a car through
Wood to soft in critical places.
Linkages I would only use for a .40 model
Umm well I'm sure there were more I never got the chance to find out after initial assembly I tore the whole model down with the intention to rebuild (came apart using my fingers btw) In the end I used it to cook chicken on a barbecue.

I dont' recall WM having a 90" Extra.. and I've built thier planes for years.. there not the best.. but they're not too bad at all either. What your describing is nothing like I've ever seen from them.

I will admit that I have never built a $1000 arf, but for the $160 I paid this is a raelly nice kit. It has its problems but they are nothing that a relatively experienced builder cant work through. Here is a picture of my plane together and one of the power system.
