Default New to giants and gassers

Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. My name is Mike and I am from Houston Texas. Never really see much of Houston due being AD Air Force. I am really interested in flying a 50cc gasser aerobatic plane. i just dont know whats all involved and how to go about such a big plane. (ie. setup, all nessisary parts) I thought I would join the site and get some info from the pros! Anyone have any info as to cheap planes and enigines, or anything of that matter? Any info would be great!!!

Welcome to Flying Giants!! This should help you with your setup and may answer a few other questions for you.

I'm afraid if you start asking these guys what engine and plane you'll just get a list of everyone made. LOL A lot depends on how much you want to spend.

I do fly, i had an avistar and a p-51 with retracts. I am deployed right now and I am currantly stationed in Italy. I havent seen any RC intrest with the Italians. So the flying will have to wait one more year. But I do plan on flying a 50cc plane to do aerobatics with. I just want to learn all the stuff like survos, engines, fail safes and the in and outs of gasers. Im a E-5 in the Air Force, so if any of you guys (or Gals) know any good places to buy from that might save me a dollar or two, my wife will be thankful as I dont make much as a SSgt. Thanks again for all the help!

Mike

Hey Mike, A very good friend of mine, used to be stationed in Italy about four years ago. I know that he used to fly at a local flying field, off base. He said the local club was pretty active out there. You might want to look them up. He got shipped back to the world, and worked at the Pentagon, made Major, then got shipped to Korea this year.
