Awesome combination, and yes this prop has some problem with delam. When Mejzlik fixes it I will go back to the 30-13. For now I am running the 31-12 Mejzlik.

Killer combo, but for IMAC only, IMO. I don't think you will find anyone that will even sell you a Mejz 30X13 because the delam thing is VERY real - delammed two myself. However, Mejzlik ia aware of the problem and already found the solution. Now it is just a matter of waiting for them to get here.
In the meantime, the Airmodels 31X12 is a MAJOR performer, in some aspects better than the mejz 30X13, but it takes massive amounts of throttle management to keep the noise level tolerable. After all, it's hard to not rip a 31" prop when it is capable of 6600 RPM. Haven't tried the Mejz 31X12, but I do no it loads the engine up more, like 400RPM more than the AM. And the 30X13 isn't the only mejz prop that has had delam problems so who knows...

Ok thanks, I think I'm going with Mejzlik 30x12 for now, until the 30x13 gets better.

30X12 is not enough prop for the 170, IMO, and they have had their problems, too...

I am running the DA170 on RE3's and a Mej 29x12 standard prop on my C-ARF 260. Awesome combo.. If I may give my 2c, it is too much for an inexperienced pilot. I have had several guys who have the 260 and have seen my plane say they will put a DA170 in theirs....IMO they need to learn to fly what they have first. It is like putting a learner driver in a F1 car. I don't know of your experience and this is not directed at you at all. I would say cans or a DA150 on pipes is a 'nicer' combo. My brothers 260 has a DA150 on BMB cans. It is very nice. Not quite enough for the Unlimited sequence with a 3 blade....well it is, but bogs down a lot. It is much better with a Mej 30x12. We are at 2000ft The 170 combo gets out of sight real quick Let me explain. You have probably seen inexperience pilots pull to a verticle upline and then think about the roll and then think about the push or pull over the top or what ever the case may be......too late!!!! The plane is burning up as it comes back into the atmosphere. Hope that makes sense cheers A. |

I tried the 33-10, I felt it did not have enough rpm. I borrowed the prop from a friend that felt the same way.

As far as the 170/RE3s go, its a great combo. I would definitely run the 30x13, but I would wait until they get the delam issue figured out. Seth
