Default iPhone to BB Storm to Droid

I was one of the iGay users that swore by the iPhone. Unfortunatly I was forced to move away from iPhone because Apple and AT&T support was horrid (they liked to bicker back and forth, and forget there was a customer in the middle with a bad phone), as well as AT&T's coverage.

Canceled my ATT contract and moved back to Verizon . Couldnt really find a smartphone I liked, but needed somthing that was worth while. Picked up the original storm about 3 months ago. After a week of owning it, i hated it. Heard rumors of the Droid.

Droid comes out, picked it up yesterday. I have toyed with it for the past day and a half, but I have to say so far, it is far superior to iPhone in terms of technology and the OS platform, easy and maybe easier to use than iPhone, and blows the BB out of the water. The only thing the BB has going for it is RIM and using it on large to midsize enterprise exchange.

Any thoughts?

have you tried the latest BB software for the Storm? I was hattin mine, until that update came out... now it's a viable smartphone. The Storm 2 is rumored to be better, but I haven't fondled one yet.... I was lookin at the Droid as well...looks good!

Yea, I downloaded the 5.0 firmware, and it was a more user friendly phone for sure. I just hated the phone as it just has too much going on, too many apps to make it do what other phones do out of the box. Just wasnt my cup of tea.

I have messed with the storm 2, and the screen is easier to use since it doesnt have a tendancy to "tilt" and is very firm, the bottom buttons are touch as appose to press in's, and it is 3G capable, but all in all, its identical to the orginal.

BTW.... The 4-site build is complete, check it out.

my wife and I got the storm 2. I came from a motorola 9Q (complete crap!) and so far I am liking the storm. my wife loves hers, I have an ipod touch also and love it. I have heard mixed things about the droid and needed a phone asap, so i got the storm. you know you can set up the BB so it only shows/runs whatever apps you want it to. phones are like people, some you like, some you love, and most you just don't care for.

Not sure how anyone can say the Droid is better than the iPhone. They have there differences, but the iPhone is a much superior piece of technology. There is a good reason why Apple does not allow multiple applications to run in the background, same reason why if you overloaded a cheap computer with a lot of applications, it would run like crap.

If you jailbreak the iPhone, you can run multiple apps in the background and tweak the phone to your liking, but I've seen how this can negatively impact the phone. Could you imagine the support nightmare AT&T would have if they allowed everyone to tweak their phone? Being an IT Director, I have set limits on what my users can do with their laptops, over a 150 of them and it has made my job much easier and doesn't impact there's at all, same can be said for these phones.

The iPhone has the same capability of connecting to an Exchange server that a BB does, only difference is it doesn't cost a company anything in licensing fees. Microsoft has Direct Push technology already built into Exchange, which allows any phone running windows mobile or if they have direct push the ability to sync over wireless with an exchange server, all for Free..

I have 38 iPhone's all connected to Exchange here at my office, and every single person who has an iPhone loves it, and I have hardly no problems. Most of the issues are like anything else, a simple reboot on a phone that has been turned on for 2 weeks straight, fixes the problem, same as any computer. When in doubt reboot..

The new 3GS phone was a blessing, it really is twice as fast as the 3G, I'm looking forward to the next gen iPhone, it will be even better. The simplistic design of having everything on the screen, including the keyboard, it's great. The Droid is nice, but sliding out the keyboard....hhmmm.. That's so, circa 2005..

I just played around today with the the Droid, seems like a nice phone the only thing I did'nt like was the feel of it seems like it could be fragile. As far as the Storm 2 I also looked at it and its ok also, me and my wife have a BB 8330 Curve, she loves hers and I really don't care for mine that much, I can't get the web pages to load like they should on some certain sites and the FG just happens to be one of them! I think I'm going to terimate my contract and just get a simple phone and go buy a laptop.

The Iphone is nice no doubt.
But the AT&T network exclusivity is a downer for a lot of us.
So for me, the Droid is perfect. It's on Verizon and it has great capabilities.
The slide out keyboard is actually a nice feature, but if you don't like it, you can just leave it closed.
Or wait a few weeks for the HTC Dragon to come out, and have a NON keyboard version running the Android OS, and have a very Iphone styled phone.
