I'd buy a 100cc FW-190 if the motor fit in the cowl!

I'd like to see some kits that don't cost as much or more than a comparable ARF myself. As much as I hate covering and getting paint on that looks good I still like to glue sticks together.
Pilot has done so much in the way of getting a "custom" plane done for a good price it is just hard for me to go build one though. Especially when it would cost more and they can paint better than I can ! And the most important reason Hobby $$$ is hard for me to come by these days. Had I not gotten a 33% that holds a 100cc well I would have gone with a Pilot 35% DLE 111 Combo deal.

what we really need with the way the money is so tight is a good 30% (50cc) at a price that dosent cost as much as a 33% or 35%. i see 30%er's by the time it gets to your door is up to and over 800.00 thats crazy. beleive me,,, the first company to do this will take over the entire market. and it can be done.. the 30% is the perfect size for most modlers. i beleive there is more money to be made on volume. just for an example,, look at what dl did for the motor market
and it can be done on the airplanes too

I think an interesting offering would be 30% Bowers Fly Baby. Have an optional bi-plane conversion kit offering for those wanting a biplane.
Yeah its an old design but sometimes it can actually be about the love of flying level. 30% could be hauled without the need for a trailer. Full scale Wing Span .................. 28.00 ft. Wing Area ................... 120.0 sq. ft. Length ......................... 18.50 ft. |

This is a good point. I bought my Dawghouse Yak for $400 and went and picked it up myself. I think even though gas was high at that time I was able to get it to the house for $460. I put in a DL 50 for $390 delivered. I figured Cheapest plane, cheapest engine and give it a try. Engine is great and the plane flies like a Yak. Fact is I would not have been able to get back into the Hobby starting with the size I wanted (30%) with a new plane had it not been for these prices.

Well we could certainly do with a few more purpose built 30cc planes now that the DLE-30 is out.

A well built ARF that would handle some of the older engines like a G-62, Quadra 52 and even J&A Sachs 4.2's or any of the Sachs derived engines. These are good engines and a lot of guys have them lying around with out a job. I know that the new 3-D ARFs are strong but some of the motor boxes on these seem a little light to handle a 5-6 pound thumper with a spring starter plus the muffler. I know that 3-D has really revived the hobby but alot of us that don't 3-D find it hard to find good ARF's or even kits available that allow us to use some of the equipment we already have. A lot of good points here, its good to hear that some guys are even still interested in building.

I would agree with those that are weary of seeing all the extras, yaks, edges, etc.
I would love to see a 30%-35% scale version of the Super Decathlon. The only version I am aware of that is true to scale is the EMHW kit from Germany but that is not an ARF. Good Luck. |

In my opinion, 50cc & 100cc are the way to go. The 30cc size just seems limited, and the 85cc's seem to have some problems not to mention the fact that they're hardly less expensive than a 35%. The 35% is big enough to get serious in IMAC, but small enough for anyone to have as a 'Sunday flier'.
As far as aircraft types, I know that everyone wants something other than Extras and Yaks, but IMO you can't improve upon perfection. I don't want to sacrifice flight performance just to have something irregular. One thing that I think would help sales a lot is having the option for a custom scheme. That way even if you've got the same plane as a lot of others, it can still be different. I wish you the best in all this and look forward to seeing what you bring out!
