Default 3W-110iB2 vrs 3W-106iB2

Has anyone seen this new motor by 3W? Are they that much better then the 106?

I have one in my yak. The CS version, and it is a MULE!!! Its swinging a 28X10 and is simply an unreal engine. UNLIMITED vertical, compared to my buddies 106, my 110 is much stronger.

I have both. The 110 turns the same prop 400rpms more on the ground (28x10 mejzlik). It will rip it as it is still accelerating vertically. My 106 is strong and has all the power I need, but the 110 is just crazy power.

I have both as well and the 110 is stronger than the 106.

That sounds real good to me. I've had experience with the 55us, And it was real impressive also. I'm plan on getting the new AW 100cc edge 540 in the early spring. I think this would be a good combo...

Do you all think its worth the extra couple hundred bucks to get the CS? It does boost it up another 1 HP. But heck, 1200 bucks, then its 1470 for the CS. It seems like a no brainer to go for the up-grade...

Its not even a question...buy the CS, don't give it a second thought. The engine only gets stronger and stronger as time goes by. Just don't push it early, give it time to break in and baffle it properly. Thats the best advice I can give you. Good fuel, Good oil, plenty of cooling= VERY HAPPY 3W.

I have been running the 3W 110 cs this past season and still flying it now. I have it in a 35% Pilot RC Yak and all I can say it this plane has more power to weight than I have ever flow. The verticals out of a hover just gain pure speed and you can snap as many times as you like and the engine will never bog. I'm running a 28x10 3W wood props and this prop is no match.

My friends have the same exact plane with the old 3w 100 and many have the 3w 106 cs's. The 110 is a huge amount more in power compared to the others. The acceleration is so much faster. Also this engine has been a Jewel from the first start. Run so smooth and the throttle transition is blurble free no matter what position your in. I was hovering the plane on the first flight right on the deck.

So yes the 3w110 CS is a bad ass and worth every penny.

Man, I'd love to get my grubby ass hands on a CS 110!!!!! Wont even have to worry about mufflers, since I would be keeping the ones from my 106........ I got to sell my 100 and 106 that are both strong runners......... What an upgrade that would be.......... Freshen up my 35% Carden with a new paint job and powerplant, plus I would have my Dalton 300 with a 157 TS CS............ Oh man oh man!!!!!!!

Started with an old 3W 27 and moved to a new 3W 28 and while it pulls better, it is not enough prop and I think it is worse than the old 27. Then put on a Mejlik 28 carbon and it rips it all to hell. Loudest thing I have ever heard at half throttle.

We have 3 of the CS's actually and are putting together a flight team with 3 identical Extreme Flight yaks. All 3 are ready for more prop. I thinnk 30x10 may be a bit much and can't seem to find a good 29x10 or 30x8 maybe but if PT Models made a 29 I think that would be my first choice. Right now I have only seen Xoar wood in 29x10 that I may have to try.

Anyone know of another option?

My 3W-110 is ripping a 30X10 Xoar prop, the Xoar 29X12 is slightly quieter, I use the PT 25X12 3 blade for IMAC but need throttle management for good sound scores, a 26 or 27 would work better. The Xoar 28X10 is very loud, I do not use it at all.

Derek,
I've been using a Biela 29x10 and it seems to work very nicely for me for IMAC flying. Available from Aircraft International.

I'll have to look at the Biela 29. Based on the responses I still think 29x10 would be the best all around. The 28 are out! Way too loud. I forget the exact numbers but they are all turning up there good.

Do you know what rpms you were getting with the 30x10 Xoar?

Mike at TBM just ordered me a couple of Bielas, 26X12 3 blade and a 27X10 3 blade, the 26X12 will go on the IMAC plane and the 27X10 will go on the 3-D plane. I did not tach the 30X 10 Xoar but it was ripping above 3/4 throttle. IMAC sound would probably give it a 0. The Xoar 29X12 is quieter than the Xoar 30X10. I fly both the 3W-110's on cans.
