Default Pilot RC YAK 55SP 50cc assembly

Hi all, here is some infos about the Pilot RC YAK 55sp 50cc.

First of all sorry if my english is not so good, but i will do my best !

I was looking for a Pilot RC plane since a long time, and by reading all the informations and comments about this brand on FlyingGiant , i was really confident about the build quality.

I order my kit directly at Pilot RC with Tony, very nice guy, he did everything in a professional way. The kit was not build when i order, but Tony give me a delivery date, and when the plane was ready i receive pictures and informations about shipping. My plane was delivred at home 5 days after leaving China.

Everything received in perfect shape, no damage. Box is ok, but i think it coud be better.. i remember Extreme flight boxes, with wood plate.

Overall quality of the kit is excellent. nothing to say, everything is well build, very light, all parts nice adjusted, and glue at the right place. Each part is very light, nothing to do.

Covering is Oracover and as expected, once again really well made.

The cowl in a beautiful part, finished, with the internal system to screw it on the plane.

Just a warning for europen pilot like me, all screw for cowl, canopy, elevators are not metric , but US screw. All the rest are metric screw. So there is a a mix ..

All accessory are include with the kit, carbon main gear, wing tube, elevators, and tail wheel.
A nice carbon spinner is also include. Main Wheels look nice with aluminium hub.

All other accessory are in a good quality. see details on Pilot rc web site.

Here is somes informations about weight , you can understand the manufacturing quality :
right wing 632gr
left wing 633 gr
difference due to the additional logo on the left wing.
elevators left and right 127gr both , perfect !

I will put the following equipment inside the plane :
DL55 with KS canister - carbon PT propeller 23 x 8
all around Hitec 5985MG and one 5955TG for rudder
alim double Emcotec dps micro + 2x lipo hyperion cx G3 1600
Spektrum AR9000

Herre is the fist pictures of the plane, just out of the box...

Building is started now, i will post some infos and additional pictures during assembly.

Hi Michel, that looks great! I was going to pull the trigger on one of these but they weren't out out the time so went for the PilotRC Extra 300 with DLE 55 (a great engine, true powerhouse!)

I look forward to the rest of your build!

Yak55s are great. Looking forward to your build thread.
I would love to own the Pilot Yak55 100cc version as well. I don't think anyone has done a build thread on one yet.

Hi all,
sorry for delay, i was very busy with my job and get less time for Yak55 assembly.
The plane is now ready at 99% , i will post more pictures soon when i have time.

Here in Switzerland it is winter time , with snow and still too cold, so i'm not able to make the maiden flight. i will of course post more info when done, but don't expect this before middle of march.

Strange enought is that nobody post about the 55sp from Pilot RC... I'm probably not alone with this !

Looking forward to your comments...

You might be waiting a while to see the 100cc vid from me, as the plane doesnt arrive till tomorrow and I have no idea when I am going to get the DLE111 engine and 7955tg servos, but at a guess it wont be till next month that I even start building it, but we shall see, lol

I have a friend in my club who is the current British Freestyle champion, so will get him to do a video flight for me

I wouldnt normally hi-jack a thread, but its essentially the same plane I guess. I do hope the thread creator dont mind too much??

Its setup will be a DLE111, Hitec 7950's one on rudder and one per aileron, one Hitec 7954 per elevator, all running direct off 2 x li-pos through an AR9100

Here are a couple of pics of it
