Default Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone; Just like to introduce myself I call myself euchreinxs only because I play allot of of euchre ,in fact I play it inxs so the name . My real name is Charlie and just to let you all know I'm usually full of questions with hopes of getting some help full answers ,,,which I'm sure I will . I know i'm in the right place. Seems to me every time I'm asking a question on the net I always seem to be directed her . I know I'm in the right place ! Hope you like reading cause my wife always tells me to shut up and get to the point lol. Silly woman never listens to me anyway.
Ive been building and flying since I was 15 and I'm 54 now so I guess it goes without saying ..Ive had a FEW woman in my life..
Question .. I recently purchased an Extra 330L 33% .. Ive moved into gas now and I have run into a little problem I hope you can help me out with here . The kit calls for a Zenoah GT twin 80 . After doing a little research on the net I found that the BME100 is a good combination . Problem being my plug caps are touching the inside of the cowl .(just not quite enough room) It's not as if its a tight squeeze but they do touch.. Is this going to be a problem ? If I removed the rubber spark plug cap would there be a problem ?or does anyone have a solution. I have watched a number of videos on the net using the exact same setup so I know this combination can be used . But being new to gas I don't need or want any problems .Does anyone have any suggestions ? I put a link to the very same plane and motor for veiwing so sorry for talking your ears off here guys but it did say don't be shy and introduce myself .. tx for your time Charlie

Charlie,

First, welcome to the site!

Second, to answer your question, I don't have any experience with the BME, but I know on ANY of my gas models, I would not want ANYTHING touching the cowl, specially the spark plug caps. It will eventually rub itself through. One way of fixing it, is to cut little holes in the cowl where it touches, but its going to look kind of ugly with the spark plug caps sticking out. Maybe someone with experience with this combo will chime in!

Seth

Three ways to go
One-You can find some adapters for glow plug to spak plug holes and run the mini spark plugs, but they are expensive at 15 bucks a pop, can be fragile, and you would have to change the ends on your ignition to match. CH ignitions probably has all of the parts and can help though this is not really a recommended solution.
Two- grind the holes in the cowl it so they don't hit.
Three- do some glass work on the cowl to make it a bit wider so they don't hit.

You probably need about 1/4 inch clearance to be safe..

Good luck! The BME is a great motor and for its weight is very hard to beat..

tx allot for all your help . Not sure which one I'll choose .. maybe t he ugly one lol .. No seriously any thoughts you can give me are greatly appreciated . Actually I like the idea about doing some glass work around the spark plug holes .That could turn out looking sweet I'll give it some thought tx again
