Hi,
i am from Brazil and i am looking for a 35% plane for 3D and some precision manouvers too. I was looking for the hangar 9 35% 260. But a friend told me that the new extra 300 from aeroworks it is very light and it is a good plane to. After i saw the 100cc edge 540 from aeroworks and now i donīt know wich one i will buy. I like the red with chekcers color scheme from AW 260 too, but i think the newīs 540 and 300 are better than the old 260. I will love to buy a Carden, but it is too expensive to shipp one to Brazil, also Extreme flight is. Here we only have ARFs from Aeroworks, Hangar 9 and some Brazilian ARFs, some one is very good, but i want to try a AW or Hangar 9. What plane should i go: Hangar 9 35% 260, AW edge 540, AW extra 300, AW 260? The engine probably will be a DLE 111. Sorry my english. Thanks, Thiago. |

Thiago, go with the Extra 300 from Aeroworks, really nice airplane and really hard to bit in hard landings, etc than H9. Here is a thread that maybe can help you to decide...not the 300 but the 260 so you will notice there is a lot of people loving the AW. Now the 300 has better performance and new style.

chamma the aw extra 300 is a great plane. but it will be 29lbs if you build it bone stock with mufflers. you will need to get all the carbon extras to get it lighter. but it does fly very nice. i just put tuned pipes on mine and hoping to fly it this weekend.

f5air, thanks for the help. I will read this thread.
jamesrxx951 i will use the stock mufflers, 8 servos, but wonīt use a smoke system. Do you think with this setup it will be at 27lb? I will wait a flight report from you ok? I wish you good luck from your maiden. I think i will use the new spektrum 6030(it is titanium and 20kg or 278oz somethink like this, i donīt remember know and 0.15sec) and i think with my Jr rx 921 donīt need to use a power expander. So this will save some weight. And the AW Edge 540 x AW 300? Same weight, etc? What do you think? Sorry my english, Thanks, Thiago. |

no it won't be 27lbs. the lightest you could get it is maybe 28lbs. mine came in very heavy 29lbs9oz. but that was with tuned pipes.before i put my tuned pipes but with headers in, it was 27lbs 14oz. and that was with all carbon assessories offered by aeroworks and with taking out the pipe tunnel and trays in the fuse.also i used a 6oz battery so with stock mufflers it will be very close or over that number depending on battery. i don't use any power expander or anything. just a 922 reciever and two a123's. i had to go with the 2300mah batteries because i needed to add nose weight to get it to balance and still isn't balancing well yet. only one servo for rudder a jr9711.ive heard the edge is alittle lighter but cannot verify personally. but this extra has some pretty good wing area so that helps alot carring the extra load.

Chamma,
My Hangar 9 came in at 26.75 lbs. http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...uild-mods.html Use a GraphTech gear and carbon spinner, remove pilot and without a power expander you may hit 26 pounds even !!! GM |

You should be fine with a 111. The 260 is the lightest of the AW 35% planes. AW planes are well built and look good for years.

Any of those you have mentioned are very good airplanes. I wouldn't worry to much about weight. You will have more than enough power with that engine selection if you use the correct prop. My DL 100 really likes the Mejlik 27x10. I have tried Xoar 27x10 also and it does not like that prop, tends to overheat it. PT 27x10 is ok too, a little more noise than the Mej.
Whatever you choose, you will enjoy! |

chamma i flew my extra today. it was only 2 flights because the weather man was wrong,60 deg and sunny. well it was 50 and very low ceiling. but it flew very well. tracked very straight and that da with pipes pulled like a tractor. it just pulled---well at least till i couldn't see it because of low cloud cover. there was no wing rock in a few brief harriers that i was doing. it is very stable. lands almost on it's own. very happy again with this plane even though it is alot heavier than i wanted it.

Get the TOC Extra 260 it's built very good. And it's a good price. Don't get the Hangar 9 Extra it's not very good.

The Hangar 9 35% Extra 260 is awesome, built well with lots of special features and finishes light too. They fly like a dream. I should know, i have three, each with different set ups!! Look at how many "pro's" have them and use them regularly for freestyle/precision etc. Designed by a "pro Pilot"!!! The TOC planes are all top quality and construction, and finish lightweight too. I have The 30%, 35% and 40% Extra 260's. I also have the 35% and 37.5% Yak 54 too. TOC Models are top notch. They have been since the beginning when they were first called TOC Models, then Aviation Models, then SD Models, then TOC Extreme Models, now TT TOC Models. You cant go wrong with any TT TOC Models or Hangar 9 35% 260. 35% from these two company are less then the others too. You are getting more bang for your buck!!!!!

lets not be to hard on him before we know the facts. He could have had on of the first kits that had wing issues. However horizon did send out a free kit to the only one i have seen crash from the loss of a wing.
