Here's a couple of foamies we've been working on lately. 36" and 42" Yak-55m. Getting in on the Yak-55m craze is a lot of fun!
A few more tweaks and they should be ready for CAD/CAM. 36"er is powered by a MicroDan 2505-3D/9 x 5HD prop/Fusion-Pack 11.1v 800mah 25c pack. 4 x Futaba 3154's powered by a CC UBEC. The 42"er is powered by a Scorpion 2215-18T/11 x 7DD GWS prop and Fusion-Pack 1350 11.1v 25c packs. It's got gobs of power and can loft a 3oz. smoke bomb/arming servo/holder. I love the smell of sulphur in the morning . Have some more vid soon of the 42"er indoors in a local rec center. It will do inverted climbing flat spins no problem. Gave Blake a Golden Knights scheme since he'll be sponsored by the Army soon! Here's a freestyle vid of the 36"er:

Very nice. How would the 42" fly with the 36 motor? Take a guess if your not sure. I dont know much about foam models except they are a pain to put together.

The 42"er is a little heavy for the 2505-3D. A 2510-3D is a more suitable motor. The 42" is a floater at 19.5oz, really doesn't need to be much lighter. We're bolting on one tommorrow to test out. I'll post some more vids of both later. Getting an HD cam in the mail next week so should have some better quality vids than my crappy old cam can deliver.
Foamies are some of the easiest models to put together. Wish they had foamies/electrics when I was a kid. You had your choice of glow, glow or glow-take your pick. Just make sure everything is straight and square-viola' backyard fun!

I'm assuming you are using 6mm depron for these? Do you use any carbon bracing on them like the indoor planes?
Very nice looking planes and great flying! dawg |

Thanks for the kind words guys! Construction is 6mm depron with carbon tubes for wing bracing and the 42"er has some small dia. carbon rods in the elevator for added stiffness. Might have to use some square carbon tube in the 42"er wing for some added rigidity. Blake knows how to find the flex on a plane LOL. GO ARMY!

Sorry Devon, got to work @ Graves that day. Hope your Dad gets well soon. Stop by and see me sometime. Not sure whether Blake will make it or not. He might have PT with the recuiters that day. Oh well, I'm sure Doc Austin can take up the slack LOL

Nice plane, good freestyle routine l saw on the video!
Have you any plans on the 36" Yak? It is a flat profile wing, or a airfolied? Jocke |

Thanks Jocke, just something Blake threw together for a video contest that we were too late to enter as the winds here in Fl. last month were atrociious. Stil working on a few tweaks for the airframe. Flat 6mm depron construction, no airfoiled surfaces(yet!) Only have templates now but will do some CAD for future production after the changes are made and test flown. Have some more vid soon of the 42" and the 36"er. Blake got an HD cam so it should be a lot better quality than my old crappy cam.

Made some minor changes to the airframe. 2 spars now instead of 1. Wing needed to be more stiff. Threw on a spinner.
