Default Krill Katana 33% vs Extreme flight 110" Yak

I am looking for a nice flying plane that I can do 3D with. I will state right off the bat that one is composite and one is built up, so comparing apples and oranges, I just want to know if anyone has experience flying either or both, and what you think?????

I haven't flown either but I have flown composites and they all seem bit heavy for me. Not very floaty. If you choose the krill just keep it really light.

1st What kind of flying are you planning on doing (Hucking or IMAC). (Katana vs SU29 close in LBs)
The Krill (SU29) is 28lb 2oz would be a 27 or 27½ lb plane with a DA. -----My Krill flys great, but I have owned 2 –EF(110) EF Lbs would be appox 29-30 lb range; and will 3D much better than the Krill.---------waterfall, flat spin etc---3D hucking.----lighter wing loading.
So is the never wrinkle (composite) vs the wood with a little maintenance (for wrinkles) worth the awesome 3D ---------EF will be better for all out 3D and IMAC (IMO) vs Krill will do Awsome IMAC and good 3D. Ah-ha
Can’t go wrong with either plane; if possible find somebody that will let you have a little stick time on either plane and go from there.
I hope that helps!

My only experience with a composite is the 2.6 comp arf extra 300.. It tracked at precision very well, imac, ect. As he said above it is good at 3d.. I own the ef110 and can say if 3d is mainly what your after get the ef 110 hands down. Mine floats like a foamy, huck's better than the rest, and with the throws down and a little mixing can imac with the best. My only thing with the extreme flight is it is almost "to light" to hold straight imac style lines in the wind. The wind tosses it around because of the massive wing area and weight. Thats a good problem to have I suppose..I am biased, but you would love the extreme flight. Quality is also second to none for wood arfs. BTW. Big A: I am the one who bought the ef110 from you this spring.. Almost 100 flights and still my mainstay in the hangar. Love it..

no comparisson between both, price is super different, as well as flying characteristics, size, weight, etc..

i would suggest you to first analyze what you want.

Krill planes are quite good planes but very high price... And quite heavy (in 2.6m range). If you compare the Katana VS the yak ... The yak wins for sure... The katana has alot of downsides such as the high weight (more then the krill SU because of the wing spar, I guess) and very bad KE capability, it also has some coupling. The katana hype was pretty big overhere a few years back when Gernot was flying it... at that time it was a good plane, now there are alot better planes.

I have flown (and I'm still flying) the yak in competition for the last 2 years, with great results... It tracks very well, does all 3D etc... But I do recommend the use of tuned pipes for the yak.

I have not flown the EF 110 yak so I cant offer you much on comparison, but I have been flying my Krill Katana for a little over 2 years and absolutely love it. It will 3D excellent and can draw some nice lines for IMAC.

I have to disagree with two of the comments, Snap-rolls first. The Katana starts and stops on a dime, whenever you stop the sticks the plane stops.. From several people that have a much higher skill than I have stated it is one of the best (Kyle W. was one them). And the comment about knife edge coupling I disagree with as well, my Krill has approx 2% elevator mix in knife edge and I only hold rudder input for this manuever. To counter my statement though, in High Alpha knife edge it can become quite a handful.. These are strictly my thoughts and experiences but I personally will only be getting rid of my Krill when it comes home in a trashbag..

I have flown the Krill Katanas for years, and flown a few EF 110 Yaks, and also had 3 50cc EF Yaks. All i can say is that there is no comparison between the two,not even close, two totally different aircraft.Bang for the Buck, you cant beat the EF 110 inch Yak,its love at first input The Krills are great, but it takes alot of bucks and time to make it happen,I look at them like the Ferrari of the RC world

What he meant to say; I have tryed in every way to sling the pilot out of his krill. Ah-haaa
Doug only some of us have seen you ring you Krill out; they would know how tough the plane is. You are the reason I have the su-29 now; bone head-Oops! ----Now that the engine is coming around its hard not to love the new su29. If I am at 28 2oz and could easy drop in to the high 27lb with the 110, a person should be able to ease down to 27 or 27 and change with the DA.

Still (Katana/Yak)-------- Awesome planes
