Default Bad fuel ???

Hi guys

I am wonderimg about some fuel I have, it has been sitting since last year about 5 litres in a 20 litre drum. Question being, if it has gone bad, absorbed water maybe, will the motor still run? I have a AX 55 that went well last year, was new. This year it will run but will not transition most times, will just stop and seems hard to tune, but when i do get it up to three quarter throttle or more will run hard but often stalls when I throttle back. And I am wondering if bad fuel can do this?

Thanks guys, Neal

If you have hot days and cool nights the drum will produce moisture which over time will accumulate. If the drum had been full then then gas would be moisture free. I would suspect water in the gas and I would suggest that you pull the carb and disassemble it for a good cleaning.

Generally speaking fuel does not really go bad. if there is water in it it matters abou the amount. If theres just alittle water like it will run fine because the water will be turned to steam. If there is too much water then it will quench the plug. The only way to know is just to run the fuel. remember you dont have to fly. If it runs good i say the fuel is fine and not to worry about it.
