It would have been brilliant if the car idea had been first.
Since it was last.....not so much. ![]() Ira |

At one of my clubs, the far side of the runway is a dense tangle of trees, brush, poison ivy, wild rose thorns, vines etc. We call it the Bermuda Triangle. It is extremely easy to lose your bearings get lost in the maze where you have to change your direction every few feet, and the vegetation towers over you, and you are liable to be tripped by roots at every step.
It takes a while to learn that if your plane goes in, you should take a deep breath, go back to your vehicle to procure long pants, work gloves, long sleeve shirt or jacket, and the tools to take your plane apart in the event that you actually find it. Instead, most guys just rush off willy nilly in the adrenaline rush of the crash, and re emerge some time later, battered, bruised, bleeding and with a pending case of PI. If very lucky they have a plane with them. But this one takes the cake. Setting out to drown yourself in your underwear in a frozen lake to retrieve a plane does elevate stupid to a new high. I could just imagine the headlines. But very well produced video and fun to watch! Ira |

LOL Our field is surrounded by forest and actually has bears in it. LOL You should try and work your way through the mess out here!! BTW all of the dirt you can see is now covered in shoulder high scotch broom. LOL

So lets see if I got this straight. At your field, if you should eat, lets say, a salami sandwich for lunch, then hand prop your plane..and then crash, you can simply follow the bear scats to where you plane is? Am I missing something? Ira |

No but there's a good chance they might follow you to where it is. LOL BTW Those trees have very thick underbrush so there's no running in them. You have to fight your way for every step. It's also about shoulder high. Lots of planes in those woods! LOL

That's okay, the week before last they took one, a black bear this is, out of my buddies neighbors tree in his back yard and he lives in the middle of a city. LOL We have all kinds of wildlife at the field including coyotes, deer, and Bald Eagles that sometimes take a disliking to the planes. LOL We do not, however, have to be members of the British Sub Aqua Club to recover our planes! LOL

That wouldn't surprise them. The British Sub Aqua Club loses a couple at Stoney Lake and their annual ice dive every year! If they still let them do it.LOL
