OK guys, so day 2 is over for flying at the field.
I have many new pictures to update this thread with, and I hope you all are enjoying it as much as we are in creating it. OK so our Day starts out at 7:45 at the BEAVER'S house. We get up and catch a few minutes of the weather and go out and hook the trailer up to Long Nuts truck. Off we are for a quick 40 minute drive to the 400 Club, not a bad drive at all, especially once you see the field. Th only thing I can even come close to comparing it to is Joe Nall. IT is no where new as good as Joe Nall, but it is a good second. So we pull into the field to be greeted by our good Canadian friend Mike Milos (gsxr) on the Giants. And right off the bat, before we even park the truck the fun begins. Ok so now that the fun begins, we find a spot to park because there is like a whole 5 people there, not hard to do. Once parked we all start talking and catch up since Joe Nall was the last time any of us have seen each other. After about 20 minutes of BSing we finally get to the important things in life this weekend. Flying and having fun. GSXR has his trust 300 mid wing and a 50ccer to beat up. Long Nuts has his 50cc Yak and we all get under way. About 3 flights into the day Long NUts blows out an elevator servo, so we let the plane sit for a bit. Another buddy has his 40% yak, we fly it a while since it has not been flown since September. That thig flies great, wish he could stick around some more and hang out, or even fly in the contest. However he has to work on Sunday so he will not be competing. As usual, GSXR is having a few bits of trouble with his 300, this wekend its the motor. Usual problems being that it is not tuned right. After one fflight we flip the prop to hear this horrific noise come out of it. Turns out the head gasket was blown out. Ok so we also find out that there is a local hobby shop within about 15 minutes of the field. Ok so Long Nuts, Aerotech and I 40% plane head out for a quick trip to the local hobby shop about I believe it was 3 autoparts store for gasket material. WE get to the hobby shop known as IDEAL HOBBIES which houses GAvin BAch, Dave LAwlor, and Andy Pollitt. MAn these guy swere nice, Gavin gave us the 10 cent tour and showed us around the hobby shop. after about 15 minutes there Long NUts buys his servo and we are out the the autoparts store to get the gasket material. Sure enough at the third store we got the gasket material we needed and loaded back up into the truck an headed back to the 400 club. Got back and me and Long Nuts got to replacing his servo in the 50cc Yak. Aerotech and GSXR got to fabricating a new gasket for the 157. After about 20 minutes both airplanes were ready and back on the flight line to be flown. % minutes later we were landing the yak again because some cowl blocks were loose and we were afraid the cowl would rub on the prop if flown anymore. The 300 started performing properly and now were are set to practice. We get about 5 practice flights before we see this horrific storm in the distance (turns out to be nothing). Ok so once we are done scrambling to put everything away and realize the storm is not coming our way, we start to have fun again. The brief period of seriousness is over. WE hang out for a bit more and one of our other buddies finally shows up after about 2 hours. AIRBUSMECH(RAPLHY) finally shows up. However, we still have a 40 minute trip back so we say hi and by real quick and hop in the car for the return trip. Long Nuts, Aerotech, my self meet up with BEaver at a local waterin hole for some fun times, cold drinks, and great food. This is the place to have all that, and on top of it the people are also friendly. WE sit and eat great food, sipp cold drinks and were treated to the tunes of a live band. WE are now closing the night out here at the Beavers for once more night before we head back out to the field arly in the morning. Tomorrow we will be staying in a hotel closer to the field, However, I have a feeling we might be at the Beavers again. This day was so much fun its not even funny, I took around 130 pictures personally, not going to post them all though. Although this day was fun it is by no means over I am sure. I wil be updating this thread with picture later tonight or tomorrow. Stay tuned for picture of the actual contest that starts tomorrow. 40%plane, Aerotech, Long Nuts, and the Beaver.
