Solo that looks great!
Got a pic of how you mounted the pilot? I gotta get a pilot...may have to put some helium in the tail. Weather... yea been lousy here too. 30mph winds all the time it seems like. |

I used some light plywood for mounting the pilot. Since the Red Aero pilots are open at the bottom, I cut a hole in the plywood a little smaller than the base of the pilot. He's mounted to the plywood with Hysol 9462 and some fiberglass strips from the inside. The plate is mounted under the wood rail (to get the right hight ) with Hysol. I made him permanent because there is enough room in there to get to what I need to. A couple of notes, Red Aero pilots are about 6+ ounces, so you really need to be a little nose heavy before installing one. I sanded mine down some, to get the base perfectly flat. With my exhaust and the header wrap, the CG worked out OK. I think Revy's pilot was only 3 ounces. I just saw the website for those pilots and they have one in green (oh well, too little, to late.)By the way, it's cold, windy and rainy today and it's headed your way.....some fun huh! |

LOL Ya but I like Pete's. Seriously, I think it is a great looking scheme as it was gonna be my first choice. Who knows, you might have the one I would have gotten!
![]() That pilot sits exactly where mine would have if I didn't cut it and attach it to the canopy. Good job on it! Rick from Booma RC gave me a smokin' deal on the newest version of the Intelliswitch that has some improvements over the first. ![]() ![]() Just gotta get some scratch saved up for the other repair bills. ![]() Revy's Edge-Redux?!!

Well, the wife and I were at the beach
last week and now that we're home, the weather is screwball again . My flying buddies all told me how nice the flying was when we were gone.I need some good weather to get my final CG verified and do another engine run to check out the smoke system and a few other items. Oh well, Dad told me there would be days like this, he just never told me how many. |

Ok, we finally got a decent day for an engine run... CG check went great, right where it needs to be. I had to re-bind the receiver to get anything to work...I'll keep an eye on that. The engine run went great, so I added some smoke oil to the smoke tank and re-fired the motor. The pics show the smoke out of the back yard. I also found a few small items to clean up before the maiden.
The maiden flight will probably be next week due to family gathering this weekend. |
