Has anyone seen or purchased any GW (Goldwing) airplanes? I was on their website, www.goldwingrc.com and the Yak55M looks really cool! As per their pics on the website they seem to be well built and have the latest type contruction techniques (light). I realize that Dietrich is importing some GW but I haven't seen any write-ups of any of these airplanes. I'm mainly interested in the 50cc and 100cc Yak55m. If anyone has one please let us know your take on quality, weights and flying characteristics for both IMAC and 3D type flying.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all! |

I've seen these on Dietichs web site and I really like the style of the 55m's. I'm looking to carry the yak's but I'm waiting to see what the quality of their 100cc birds are. I like the pilot rc's birds on Chief but I just went through a 150cc yak and there was a few areas of damage and it's a very light bird, unlike Aeroworks. I'm interested to see what GW has to offer. |

Hi all guys,
for Christmas from my father a received one of Gold Wing Yak 55M,it's really really nice very light and great quality.Worked a bit on it Friday from about 10.00pm till 1.00am and Saturday all day till about 3.00am and today I manged to get a maiden on it. Have a DLE 55 on it (brand new, only 2 hours on it) so still not setup ed and it's my first gasser.I only manged to do one flight on it today as around half flight of the maiden the gears of the rudder arm sheered on the last position and came almost full right, at least before I manged to do 2 touch and goes so I knew a bit the flying characteristics on landing and manged to land it safely. The 2 touch and goes were great,it didn't land but it just kissed the floor, just keep bursting on the engine (that's on all yak's) and it will float for ever. Now I will buy metal servo arms for all surfaces coz what I have are that came with the plane, metal arms that just screw into the normal plastic arms ,I think I will get MPI or something similar. Now I will do a build thread although it's ready but it will help as theres nothing on it.I will begin it now so I will post again to give you the link.

I have GoldWing RC Raven II. It's very good quality. I think this version II is same plane as EG Aircraft 50cc Raven, this is quite a bit diferent than the original.
I also ordered custon wing and stab bags for this plane from Revoc.eu |

Hi THuhtamaki,
what is you A.U.W. dry? mine came at 6.300kg without cowl, the cowl wights 380g so would come around 6.680kg but I will replace my batteries from Ni-MH to A123 so it will come slightly lighter. I am also planning to get wing bags for my yak from Revoc, they seem great.

Hmm... mine is 7.7kg... I have about 250g in smoke system and self made power system. So it would be 7.45kg without smoke and when driving servos directly from receiver...
I have single 2s A123 2300mAh pack (170g!) for receiver with dual wiring and switches. 4.8V NiMh for ignition. What servos do you use? I have Hitec 7955TG's on all surfaces and Futaba 3010 on throttle. Engine DL-50 with J'Tec wraparound. Here's pic of my "power box" Last edited by THuhtamaki; 12-28-2009 at 05:28 AM. Thats why it's heavier coz of the smoke system. But still looks slightly heavier than mine.
Right now I have 2x Ni-MH 1600mah connected separetly direct to my RX AR9100 with the single power safe switch but I'm waiting for my A123's to arrive.I have 2x 1400mah on there way.For ignition I use JR batt 4.8v 1500mah. As servos I use JR DS8411 on elev's and ailerons,DS8711 on rudder and DS811 for throttle. As for engine I am running the new DLE 55 with stock muffler.

You used the stock tank assembly. I made both gas and smoke tanks from PET soda bottles. These two tanks weigh exactly same as the stock tank alone...

I just visited wrightrc.com website and got the idea to search pictures of 1:1 Ravens cockpit. and found one. I had to print a virtual cockpit for my plane and it came out pretty cool...
