Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010!
Tonight at the stroke of midnight 2009 officially has passed and we welcome 2010 with open arms!
We are truly looking forward to the new year and all that it will bring! But right now, we would like to take a moment and reflect on our old friend 2009, just for a bit. 2009 saw the hobby of giant scale RC aviation grow into the mainstream. It seemed that almost every field across the country now has a reasonably large contingency of giant scale models. This is simply amazing, considering that just a few years ago many clubs and modelers did not know big planes existed! It is so very nice to see the acceptance our large planes are finally starting to get all across the land. Lets continue to help this trend by making sure that we, as a giant scale community, continue to spread the good word with a positive vibe, and safe actions. In 2009, there were so many great events, and contests held. To name just a few, the E-TOC, E-Fest, JR Indoor Fest, KEIF, Joe Nall, the FG Huckfest series, the XFC, the Tucson Shootout. Wow if you think about it, there was always a quality event to attend! As a modeling community we witnessed hundreds of amazing new hobby products hit the market this year. We watched the quality of ARF hit an all time high! We watched as 2.4 Ghz became the absolute standard across the US. solving years of frequency conflicts and the old "I was shot down!!" excuse. In short, 2009 was a pretty amazing year. But what really stands out about 2009 to us here at Flyinggiants.com, was once again watching our beloved site grow. More members, more friends, more events, more amazing times. After four years, we still can not get enough of this wonderful place. So on this, the eve of the brand new year, the staff of Flyinggiants.com would like to say THANK YOU to each and every Flyinggiants member for being part of the greatest giant scale modeling community in existence. We hope each and every one of you has an amazing new year! HAPPY NEW YEAR! With 2009 behind us now we can concentrate on making sure we are using the right oil, best prop, or even the better radio.
Ok, let's promise we won't go there in 2010. But in 2010 let's hope we spend more time in the air than on the chat! No hobby has better friends than RC huckin. May your biggest problem be which plane to take to the field in 2010!
