Seth Arnold joins Horizon Hobby product development team.
This young man has been working his way up through the ranks for the past several years, taking each step of his flying to a new level year after year. Seth Arnold started flying at the age of 12, learning on his fathers .60 Tower Trainer. Once learning to fly, it took over his life, becoming a passion that drove him to where he is today. Seth started into IMAC and freestyle with in the first year of learning to fly. Starting at a slow pace, Seth incorporated the experience and knowledge of David Scott from First U.S. RC Flight School to help him accelerate his level of flying almost immediately. Dave continued to work with Seth for the next year or so, advancing him to a 2nd place finish in Intermediate at the Nationals in Muncie, Indiana in 2007. Seth credits David Scott for much of his skill and ability with his advanced training techniques. Enter Quique Somenzini who immediately picked up on the advances Seth was making and took him under his wing. Horizon Hobby and Desert Aircraft also noticed Seth’s unique style, his humble attitude, and that he already used their products and placed him on their respective teams. Quique worked with Seth and even further sharpened his skill which took him on to a win in both Advanced and Freestyle at the 2008 Nationals in Muncie, Indiana. Seth continued to work with Quique and went on to win the 2009 ETOC and ended up 4th in Unlimited at the 2009 Nationals at Muncie, Indiana flying against several Invitational pilots in that class. He also placed 2nd at the 2009 Futaba XFC and 2nd in Unlimited and 5th in Freestyle at the 2009 Tucson Aerobatic Shootout. Seth has also been very passionate about keeping it real by continuing to promote his local clubs as well as attending several national charity events. He has become a favorite to many due to his down to earth attitude and willingness to always listen and help his fellow modelers. In his time at home, Seth continued his passion by designing new foamy prototypes, introducing new flying techniques such as a new level of VPP we saw at ETOC 2009, as well as experimenting with new products and designs. Seth flew with and against Mike McConville several times in 2009 and, at this point, Mike starting talking to Seth about his future and what he saw himself doing in the next few years. Mike, being a true professional and having such huge success with his designs at Horizon Hobby realized pretty soon that Seth would be a great talent for their product development team. Once again following the footsteps of his mentor Quique Somenzini, Seth has accepted a full time position at Horizon Hobby working under Mike McConville as Assistant Product Developer. Seth has been very outspoken and passionate about his great experiences with Horizon products and their customer service over the years. With Seth on board at Horizon Hobby, we can be even more certain of the continued development and production of more fine products from Horizon Hobby. Everyone at Horizon and the Flyinggiants wants to wish Seth the best of luck at Horizon Hobby! WAY TO BE THE MAN SETH!

Seth, it's going to be fun and enlightening for you to work with Mike and Quique. Congratulations!
I'd say that's a pretty neat job to get right out of high school! |
