yeah, i agree, the G62 is pretty heavy. So, what's your reason for not wanting to use a DA?

i would love to use a da or a 3w those engines are awsome, money is my limit, but back in the post i had written that i talked to lanier before buying the airplane, and they said the da50 was the engine used in there test plane and it flys the 18lbs plabe around well, he did say however, the da50 in that plane most likey not suit me,a pro pilot who can handle such a plane, the engine works well, for me who is still learing, its not going to skyrocket up with 50cc,i can hover small planes i have a funtana 90 with ys120 and can hover it all day, this is going to be my first gasser and giant true 3d airplane,i'm just really parinoid about engine power and the plane.i live in an area that no ones around who flys like this so i gotta do this on my own[no help] ok i may have accese now to a 3w70 single, what about a fuji64? says it swings a 24x10 @ 7000 rpms?
thanks everyone for the help on this |

It's official, thanks Verne...

Of those 2 engines I'd go with the 3W 70. The Fuji is supposed to be a good motor, but again, it's a weight issue.

I thought about your scenario a lot this evening... I think you will NOT regret saving your money, and not being able to fly as soon as you hoped by buying a DA50. Not to mention, if you crash it, dont like it, whatever.... you still have a motor that has held its value. I am a first time gasser as of 2 months... I sucked it up and bought a DA50... it literally cant be any easier. Much easier and cleaner than glow. But I suggest sell the Funtana, do what you wish, but hold out for that DA50.

The FPE3.2 or Brison 3.2 would be GREAT for that plane, slightly heavier than a DA 50, but they both have LOW end grunt... will rocket that plane out of a hover. Can be had for under $500.. with Muffler.
I have a 95CC 5.8 FPE, and it RIPS a 27" prop just like a DA 50. and its soooo smooth, just as smooth as a ZDZ 80.

A twin 56cc engine is not more powerful than a 56cc single. Thats a fact and no matter what propaganda you read it simply cannot be. It must be heavier because you need two exhausts, it will be smoother of course. It will accelerate quicker than a single. Why dont you put your heli up for swaps for a good DA50 in the swap shop, I am sure you will get some bites. Or a 3W60, ZDZ60, etc. Kiwi |

ok i bought the QQ 3 -w 56i twin, its 6.5hp and swings up to a 24x8 prop, its weight is the same as the single and i'm only going to use the headers that come with engine so the weight will not increse much at all, no mufflers, hmmmm more power

How about a Brillelli 366GT (60cc). It is only $625.00 new and comes as a complete engine(Muffler & S/S EI). It weigh's 66oz and that includes the muffler and EI. Mine swings a Xoar 23x8 prop at 6900RPM. It is a side carb engine, but this is one sweet running engine. Scott and Mark at Brillelli have the best customer service you will ever find. Here is thier web site. Take a look I think you'll like what you see. www.brillelli.com
