Dude that plane fly's GREAT! My dad like flying it, because its a slow, relaxing low wing aerobatic plane. He has the 60 size 4star though. I know the 40 size does well too, because i've seen someone fly it. Its also a good low wing trainer....

4 Star is a great second plane but if you have 3D flying set in your sites, there are quite few 3D capable planes out there that could be good second planes with the throws cut way back. 40 Size profiles come to mind...

I built the Sig 4 Star .40 as my first low wing trainer. I loved it. It taught me how to handle a tail dragger and was very easy to fly. It is not a fully aerobatic model but still fun. Even when the engine cuts out it just floats in for a landing. I have subsequently sold it, but have fond memories of it. However, if you are looking to progress into fully 3D capable planes do not be scared to skip the 4 Star and get one. I have been very impressed how gentle and easy to fly these planes are when on low rates. They perform basically as well as a low wing trainer.

My opinion....Get a 4 Star .60! You'll like it a lot better! That is if you can find one. I think the kits are available but the ARF are hard to find right now for some reason.

Later

They fly nice, but I think I like the Tiger II by Goldberg better.

The 4-Star is a great flying plane, never flown the Tiger II so no opinion there. I agree the 60 would fly better, if it's powered right. If you are trying to use gear from your Senior, the 40 is the one for you.

I know a guy that flies the 4-Stars as close to 3D as you can get. His planes flat spin, both inverted and upright, flatter than most planes. He does low and slow snaps, harriers and hovers with his plane as well as many 3D capable birds. I've never seen him do a rolling circle with his 4-Star, but I think it's because he doesn't know how

He also does things with a clipped wing Cub, that will blow your mind.

I hope to have my camera the next time I see him at the field, I'll get video if I do.

thanks for the feedback! I would would get the 60 version but im trying to use my OS .52 so I thought that would work best on the 40. That would be neat to see some video of that guy doing some 3-D stuff with the Four star and the cub...hopefully after the 4-star i will buy a cub.

thanks again,
Jordan

Can't really do 3D with the Four Star but you can do lots of aerobatics. The 4*40 was my second plane and I even competed in Basic IMAC with it and placed 4th top 3 were gassers

Is a 4* as 3D capable as a Harrier or a Twist, absolutely not, however I have watched a 4* do "some" 3D maneuvers, and very nicely, I might add.

I will have video sometime soon, I just need to have my camera when Howard is at the field.

The fourstar 40 with the O.S. .52 fourstroke would be a sweet combo,, it will be a excellent second plane,, when you get to the point that you can and to feel comfortable doing aerobatics and don't have anymore beginner dumb thumbs you will be ready to move on to something like a .40-.60 size extra 300,, BUT just bear in mind that the stall characteristics of the fourstar is slow and slow and slow and won't hardly fall out of the sky, when you move up to a symetrical thin wing like a Extra it is a hole new ball game,, it is quick and it WILL stall and snap at excessive slow speeds,, hope this helps,,,

I had an OS 52 on my Four Star. Great match for this plane, plenty of power for everything. The last post is right, this plane will fly slow, slow, slow and not stall even with a dead engine.

Once you wear out the 4* you will not want a cub
