Default Paging Garrett Morrison

Hey, I was watching your video on the 30% 260. What servos are you running and what were the linkages? 1:1? That elevator is FAST! My stuff isnt near that fast, and I would like to replicate what you had. If you don't mind, tell me your servos, arms, control horns, etc. Thanks. I appreciate any information. Keith

Kieth, the plane was using the 9351 Futaba's. They have acutally been updated to a new number so if you call make sure you get the updated servos so they dont shake. I would actually not use that servo on the wing and elevator but I would use the 9451 which is .10 sec and 131 inch ounces of torque. I have been using these servos for years and they are awesome. But ya, in the vid its 9351's.

Is your ratio on the linkage stronger than 1:1? I can't even get my control surfaces to move that quick unless I really move out on the servo, and in on the horn, but then you risk flutter and blow back... Thanks Garrett, Keith

I had a whole slew of new 5945 Hitecs, and used them on a 30% Yak I have.. The ailerons are dog slow bevel to bevel on 6Volts and I am at a slightly better ratio tahn 1:1. But not to the point where I am afraid of flutter or blowback. Thanks.

Grem, that's because they are Hitecs!! No just joking, but if you want blistering speed get the 9451's and you will really like them. When i build a 30% plane I'm going with those. I have them on my 40% colombo anderson and have 3.5 years of flying on the plane and all the servos.
Garrett
p.s. I cant remember the exact ratio but I usually try to keep them 1:1

Keith.

Just athought my bird loving freind. (Feathered blue colored with retracts)

Do you have a servo programmer for your servos. If so what are the end points set to and what speed is your servo set to. There are ten different speed settings on HITEC digital servos and they often ship set on 4. 10 being the slowest and 1 being the fastest.

Let me know please, I have 5495's on my Fanatsy rudder and they are blistering fast.

I am going to have to break down and buy one ehh? I mean they function well and evenly, they are just a little slow for 3D. I guess I will buy a programmer. Will it ever work with anything besides Hitecs in the future?

The programmer will "test" any servo, but only program Hitecs... unless there is a mod I don't know about.

Keith, thats is it though, I mean I rally can't see a servo being much faster than the 9545's are with the speed turned up. I mean it is STUPID FAST.

In fact, everytime I fly my Yak and some of the old timers who haven't seen it are around and I do my pre-flight I always hear, "what the hell servos are those boy, they have to be expensive"
These comments are comming from guys flying 120" cobs with Futaba 3001 servos.
haha.

I'm using the 5925's on my Yak. They're a ton faster than the 45's but only have 127 oz in. of torque, which is about 25% stronger than the manufacturer recommends. I bought the 45's but installed the 25's instead for the speed.

2 per aileron
1 per elevator half
single 5955 on the rudder

So, they set them for the speed advertised and then you can turn them up more? Or they set them conservative, and then "we" can turn them up to the advertised specs? I'll buy one tonite.

Keith.

You may also find that the throws are set low on them as well. As sleepy said the programmer works on all makes of servo but you can only programm Hitec's.

I love the thing as it lets me setup my plane in every way without ever needing to turn on my radio. Once I have all the end points, speed, direction etc set then its a 10 minute walk in the park to set up the radio. I normally pick another model that is close in size and performance, copy it over to a new model name and fine tune it from there. Mixes are done, switch allocation is done, all you fiddle with are the fine tuning knobs.

Keith you wont be sorry you got a programmer, you will wonder why you did not get one before.
