Default Our journey to the XFC

With the XFC still several day's out, our journey started Sunday morning. We are staying 3 nights in the Blue Ridge mountains in north GA ab out 10 miles south of the TN border in a log cabin before the treck to Troy. Blue Ridge is about half the way between Ocala, FL and Troy. I've posted a few pictures of the journey so far. Getting internet in a small mountain town is not easy and we are sitting in the parking lot of a closed coffee cafe with wireless internet. It's nice to get away for a few day's with some piece and quiet before the crazyness begins at the contest. The content's of my trailer had to be tied down very good with the 2-3 mile twisty gravel road up 20-degree+ inclines at several portions. At one point all 4 tires were spinning around some corners. The plane suprisingly stayed put but that was probably thanks to the very slow driving up the hill. Here's some pictures, we will be arriving in Troy Wednesday afternoon/evening or so. Hope to get back to the cafe tomorrow to maybe post some more pictures, hopefully I can find some internet in Troy as well for daily updates.

The cabin Looks like the kind of place that would be hard to leave. The view must be great and relaxing.

I'm guessin it ain't.... There aren't any major appliances on the front porch, and the lawn has been mowed and there are no cars on cinderblocks to be found.....

Nice place Kelly. My wife and I have vacationed there many times over the years.... Next time through, you need to take a rafting trip on the Ocoee!

Yea, it's gonna be hard to leave for sure. We make it a point to come up here twice a year if possible and it made sense to come on the way to Troy since it's kind of on the way. If the plane survives the ride down the mountain we'll be golden for the rest of the trip. See some of yall tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Yeah that is not a typical cabin, more like a big house sounds about right.

We're in Troy at the Fairfield now, much different than the mountains. Went to the field today and there weren't many people there. A few started showing up later in the evening but nobody was really flying except FutabaMan with his new Yak. Practice starts tomorrow and I'm sure alot more people will show up and it will be a crazy day.
