Changing frequency in the transmitter you need a module, as each module is tuned for that specific frequency.
Changing frequency in your receiver, you only need to change the crystal as the receiver is not tuned to specific frequency When you buy them ask for "center dot" crystals and moduals. If you look at the back of the Xtal, there are 3 dots, and the center one is tuned the furthest from the other closest frequency giving you the best isolation. T |

i begg to differ but you dont have to buy a new module. any freq crystal as long as its jr and for air will work. the tuning the module went away back in 1990 or so when ALL transmitters had to be sent in to be gold stickered. from wide band to narrow band. when you buy a module it dosent come with a crystal, that is separate. i change crystals all the time. when its was wide band you could only go up or down 3 freq and still work, but not any longer. as i said any crystal that jr sells for air, and is 72.5 mhz will indeed work. jr at that time separated there freq into low band or high band and if it was low band it would work and high band being the same. thats when the dots came into play. but as it is now from 15 to 60 will work in any module and receiver, as long as its jr crystal. but do yourself a favor buy another module for your radio cause changing out modules you will bust a tab or 2 and you can replace the case or less than 5 bucks. if you doubt me just call horizon. or email them. ive been flying JR for over 16 years, back when they were circus circus made in las vegas nv. now they are japan radio. sill have some of those receivers. i keep apx 10 different crystal sets for flyins so i dont have to worry about being on someone eleses freq. i have a dozen or so planes and no more than 2 are on the same channel. i also have apx 7 or 8 modules . its easier just to change the module and your ready to go. also now JR has a synthasized module you can select any freq you want.

So, what do i need to buy, because now when i want to fly my 30%er or foamies i have to change my module to 15, and then when i want to fly my 40%er i have to change the module to 30, so im scared that someday im going to forget, and leave the 15 module in the radio and fly my 40% which would need to be on 30.

well what i do is, on the screen i put in a short saing what the plane is and then the freq # example is fun56, or mojo43. on the 8103 you can only use so many letters or numbers. on my 10sx i can spell out the whole plane sometimes. once you get used to it it becomes second nature. fun 56 is funtana channel 56. and the mojo speaks for itself. extra50. its very easy and i will take out the module after a day at the field so when i go back out i dont have to worry about shooting someone down when i turn on the radio. when i turn the radio on it tells me which module i need or what plane i was flying last, however you want to look at it. its the best way to do it to me. i never have to worry about interfearing with anybody else.then if your at a flyin you have choices. its way easer to change the crystal in the receiver to match which ferq is open instead of having to wait for one to open. usely the receiver is right there and not hiden somewhere in the plane. that is why i say get more modules, but you dont have to, its just easer to me. by doing that you have a spare all the time. i at this time beleive i have 10 modules i gathered over the years and guess what i have never had one go bad. i however have had to change the cases but not until both tabs have broken. the cases sell for less than 5 bucks. then you have a new module.....

you could always get the synthesized tx module then you can change the tx to whatever frequencies your planes are on
