Default GP Ultimate Bipe 1.60

I have just made my jump from electrics to my first big gasser. (jumped right over glow)
This ARF is stunningly beautiful and very well engineered, I think GP hit this one outta the park !

I am running a BME 50 with Falkon ignition on her with Hitec 5645s on ailerons and 5945s on tail feathers.
I doubled up a little on the Radio South 1/4 scale CA hinges.
Here are a few pics of her on the table.

SWEET! I have one of these on the building board in California and did a similar deal with the CA hinges, except I used the supplied material cut in a 1X2" rectangle instead of a 1X1" square. I am still waiting on the elusive BME55 for it. If it is not out by the first part of August I'm going with a DA.

I also did something a little different on the ailerons. I am running 5945's, but only two total. I cut open the ailerons and epoxied a 4-40 rod through the leading and trailing edge of the aileron as well as the side of a rib and fabbed a carbon rod link between the upper and lower aileron:

By the way, you didn't miss anything by not experiencing glow - there's really nothing good about it...messy, expensive, less reliable, expensive, and MESSY!

Hey man...
This isn't a bash to HITEC (thats all I use servo wise) but I don't think you will like the Hitec 5645s for ailerons....
VERY slow... I had some in my 30% yak for 1 flight.. pulled them for a small project.
I guess try them.. but compared to the 5945's they are REALLY REALLY slow.

My 2 cents!

Plane looks killer!
Good luck!

Thanks for your input.
I was going off the recomendation from the guys over at RCU on an 90 page thread on this plane that I have been following for months.
The ailerons on this plane are reported to be very responsive and several guys are using these on the ailerons and report fine performance.
Maybe I won't use quite so much exponential on the ailerons for a little quicker responce around the middle.
Anyhow, they are installed and I am connecting the linkages right now....

They will work fine.. but I was refering to the "zip - zip" speed of the 5945's.
I was kind of expecting that when I bought them (plus a little less torque. )
But they are quite a bit slower.

But if your ailerons are sensitive.. perhaps they are just the ticket!

sleepy if it is speed you want run the 5925, they are as quick as the 5945, and honestly, we are usually on the far side of overkill when we spec our servos (for torque anyway). I have a few of each 5645, 5945, 5625, and they all work well, but the 5625 is my vote for speed and power when you do not need a 5945.

Fishdeth,

Your gonna love this plane, I have one with a ZDZ50 on it and it is a great flying plane, very predictable and no bad habits.

I made mine with a Pull-Pull rudder and it rocks with a HS5955 servo.

Here's a couple pics of mine.
