I took a look at my stripped 8611A, and yes, its stripped. I decided to open it up just to look at the damage. Well, the service guys at Horizon must have Gorilla's tightening the srcews down. On all of the four fasteners on the bottom, the heads are uglyied. The gear farthest from the main driven is missing half of the teeth (Brass) almost the full radius of the gear.Time to pay for more shipping and handling. I must say this in Horizons favor, They have been fixing my servos for little to no cost, so that part is good. But, I am just tired of this.

everyone I talk to has the same problem with those 8611's yet people still buy them for 120 dollars apiece. 9451 kick butt and are only 75 bucks.

the 9451s are nice servos... but only 97 in/oz... just not strong enough for me.

Today, I ordered four HS-5955TG's for my main wing panels, and the programer. If I like them, I will purchase three more for the tail feathers. I have had good sucess with Hitec in the past, and only went to JR because I thought they were better. The 5955's did not exist then either. I will give them a try.

I KNOW everyone is just waiting for me to weigh in on this one. . .

The thread is about BRAND. . not necessarily a particular servo. In that case. . ALL servo "brands" are good, and the manufacturers do their best to keep the quality up, price down, and supply plentiful.

BUT.. when it comes to cutting edge servos, with the most power, torque, and features built into them, it's impossible to beat the HiTec digitals.

Which is why I use them exclusively now for control surfaces.

For throttle. .almost any JR will suffice. . even an 8411 or 8611a is up to the task. . usually. . .fg57

Hitec is what I use. It started when I looked at specs and figured I could get more for my money with the Hitecs. I did a lot of research to find out the possible problems, such as centering and premature gear wear. I found that all servo brands have their share of problems, none are worse than others, assuming you take the titanium gear out of the mix, so I decided to go for the best value I could find...Hitec.

It's hard to compete with the 5955, that's why I didn't consider them when I did my research.

Simply my opinion.

BTW: I have used all brands, never personally had a problem with any servo that I didn't cause.

Hey you may want to rethink putting three on the tail feathers. I've got two on a 42% Edge in a pull-pull system and I can climb in knife edge. I don't think a knife edge loop would be a problem, I just haven't tried it yet.

I'll also have to just on the band wagon for the 5955's. Using these with the programmer and then through a Smartfly power expander is the simplest, most reliable setup I can imagine on a 11 plus servo airplane.

I haven't explained what plane these servos are for, So your response sounds confusing. These servos are for a Hanger 9 33% edge, so yes, three 5955 in the tail feathers are appropriate. Two for the elevators, one for the rudder.
