I understand. This is a poll thread. Why comment at all if it is just a poll. How many words can one write about indorsing a particular brand? I feel commenting on a particular brand that is not serving "me" well, is good information to include in a favorite brand servo poll that invites commentary, especailly when it gives validity to another post. Not to sound rude, but what does post 52 through 58 have to do about servos.

Oh I see, I didn't realize you were talking about all three. As said, that will work fine.

It's hard to compete with the 5955, that's why I didn't consider them when I did my research.

Simply my opinion.

BTW: I have used all brands, never personally had a problem with any servo that I didn't cause.
Well Freddy,

This is post #52, I'm pretty sure it contains information about the reason I happen to chose Hitec servos.

I'm sorry if some of my banter with KrisW strayed off topic.

I've used JR servos for the past 6 years. I have YET to strip a servo in flight, or due to binding!! I despise matchboxes!!! I don't use them, and see no need for them in airplanes. I am using 4 year old 8411's on my 35% Extra. Do they have slop?? Maybe a little?? How many flights?? Probably 1500 in 4 years. Have they been sent in?? Sure have, but not for gear replacement!!! I have 8611's and 8611a's for over a year now. Never an issue with either.

Do metal gear servos develop slop over time?? Sure do!! Is it a fault of the manufacture?? NOPE!! Is it a user fault?? NOPE!!! What is it then?? It is a natural course.

Are the 3 afore mentioned servo brands good?? Sure! Have I had good luck with them?? Yes/No. I used to fly Hitec servos, until I found out that they don't center for crap!!! Absolutely junk, in my opinion. I've seen brand new Hitec's not center. Off by a few degrees. Unacceptable in my book.
I swapped out my Hitec's with Futaba's and my centering problems went away. Grant you, this was 8 years back!!! I've seen brand new 645's not center to save anyones life, just LAST YEAR, as well as this year!!! Futaba servos are good as well.

JR/Futaba servos are 6 one, half a dozen another. You like what you like.

I go by what I like, know and TRUST!!! JR has yet to let me down!!!

If I had to choose a servo to run, and my options didn't include JR or Futaba, I would use MultiPlex!!! Yes, I know that Hitec has them them over, but their servos are incredible!! A little lax on the choosings, but............. I would run them!!! And my second choice would be Airtronics!!! Strong, but PRICEY!!!!

C'mon Chris . .8 YEARS ago?????

Puhlease!!!

You could not GIVE me a 645, 625, or anything non-digital from HiTec that is 3 or 5 pole motors. Come to think of it. . any servo with a 3-pole motor is never going to center worth a damn anyway. You want precision you have to at least go coreless. . and digital is really the only way to get perfect centering.

You may as well be slamming JR 507's or even 4721's (which were horrible on center) as give HiTec a hard time about 8 year old servo designs.

FWIW. . you get what you pay for. . but HiTec has taken what you pay for, and gives you a ton more for your money than JR can even begin to.

As for 1500 flights on 8411's . .I have some on the shelf, less than 25 flights in a fun-fly of all things, that I would never even consider putting into a serious aerobatic aircraft. They were sloppy the day I got them. . they are sloppier now. .and they will be sloppy until the day I throw them away or destroy them in a crash. As for not stripping them. . I've done it . .several times .. I've also bent the center pinion shafts (in flight), burned out amplifiers and motors on 8411's, and cracked a couple of cases. . all with "In-flight" loads.

8611's were not much better. . 24 flights in a SuperXtra and I sold the lot of them.

Maybe all that slop is the reason you don't need matchboxes. . .

I am not being sarcastic only inquisitive. How do you set up multi servo setups on large birds where there is 6 on the ailerons, 4 on the elev, 3 on the rudder, one for throttle, ignition kill and smoke.?

Just like the old days, fine tune the linkages, the match boxes make it easier for some guys.

Assuming so, I normally y harness my aileron servos on each wing then adjust linkages to make them equal. I use Hitecs and have a programmer, but haven't needed to use it for this aspect of setup. I've never set up 3 servos on one surface, so far, so I have no idea how that would be done, unless a power box was used.

I haven't tried Futaba servos lately but have heard good things. For my big stuff, I primarily run Hitec 5955's and 5945's. The prices are right and I like the killer torque and the lack of geartrain slop as compared to the 8611'a I have had them before and their gear slop doubles after 20 flights. No thanks for me.

Is the centering on 5955's on a par with the 8611 & 8611a's.

Just looking for information to help me make a decision.

Thanks
