Just switched from all 8611a's to Hitec 5955's. The JR's gear slop is unacceptable for a "high end" servo. Have always flown JR until now, but excessive gear slop after 5-10 flight woon't work for me. I spend more time swapping servo's than flying!

The 5955's are great! Ton's of power, centering is not a problems like the old 5945's, and there is No gear slop..NONE!...I'll be with Hitec servos(JR 10X Trans), until JR comes with something better....

I have put 150+ flights on a 5955 on the rudder of my 30% yak, no gear slop at all even now, it has even spent time sitting in water and it still works terrific.

Kris W. JR 8611's and the 5955's are both $95 when you order 2 or more from troy built models.

I am pretty shure it is 2 or more but it may just be per servo if you are subscribed to their mailing list.

So am I understanding this correctly..If I get 5955's Im going to also have to purchase a programmer to help with the centering??
Im considering trying some out in my Yak but I dont know anyone that has a programmer and LHS doesnt have one either..And I dont want to have to buy one right now..If I do then Ill stick to 8611's. This would the first time I would be using Hitec servos

You will only need a programmer if you are using more than one per control surace unless you use some type of matchbox. You do not need the programmer to center the servos.

You can use the 5955s without a programmer no problem. However, if you want to program them without the hitec programmer, you will need something like a jr match box or smart fly equalizer just like you would with the 8611s.

Im already using the Equalizer's in both my 50cc planes..im selling one of them to a friend and he wants to buy the servos along with it..(8611's) I thought this would be a good time to try out some of the 5955's since I never tried any Hitec's before..I didnt want to have to spring for the programmer if I find I like the 8611's better.
.Honestly Im a little skeptical because of some of the stuff Ive read over the past few years regarding Hitec servo's..not saying they aren't good but sometimes where theres smoke theres fire..They do seem like an awesome servo
