Default OMP fusion 90

Hey just wanted to let every one know about this plane.

I sold my 25% wild hare edge to get a smaller plane that I could haul in the back of my truck with my other plane a 50cc so I decided on the OMP Fusion 90 sized. I was looking for some thing that would throw down with some 3d and also go through some basic imac just in case my 50cc plane got grounded. Since I’m starting in basic any plane would do. I did call the omp guys for a katana but they informed me this plane was going to be in there hands pretty soon and they thought this plane was what I was looking for.

This plane was advo to be an imac oriented 3d profile so I went for it. To say it plain and simple it is every thing its advo to be. The instant I got it in the air I knew it was the shyt.

I built the plane and strait forward as per the small manual. I did use 2 ele servos which scared me I thought it wouldn’t cg easily. All fear s subsided when I completed all the construction minus attaching the engine. I had to slide the engine (Saito 125) almost all the way to the fuse to cg at 8.6. The manual advised 8 to 8.5.

I eye balled all the throws ele look spot on and the ailerons I centered and left the way they started. Maiden was so perf strait in to all the 3 d rolling harriers and hover torq fest. It 3d s just great now I start the other stuff point rolls then rolling circle, omg to easy. Tracked better than the AW 50cc yak. Knife-edge was easy no special input required. I can’t believe how great this plane is sticking every thing I can throw at it. So after this first flight its dark and I cant get another so I pack it up and save it for the flying giants fly-in in peebles.

I’m at the fly-in and it still flying like the maiden except some of the bolts for the motor breaks not even noticing I fly it some more and nothing comes of that. Except I though down the first 16 point rolling circle of my life. And like many other milestones in my flying carrier no one sees this except 2 people that were there that happened to also be from Lexington. I replaced the bolts but had to barrow them from people at the fly-in all great guys by the way.

There is some info I have learned from being the first few that got the arf version of this plane in the air the plane comes in way under the advertised weight. The company lists it at 7.25 pounds and mine came out 6.5 with and extra servo in the tail a 2000 mah li-on, a req switch and all supplied gear used except for I replaced the control horns with dubro bolt thro style. The push rods supplied are near the size of number 6 or 8 z bend wire very beefy.

I think my engine choice was too big as I have a light plane and the engine sucks the tank dry in 7 and a half minutes. I believe this plane can be flown for 3d with something as low as a saito 82. So with the same gear most would put in a 40-size funtana you can have a plane that fly’s way better!!!

I think any one looking for a glow plane that will 3d and fly precisely would do well to obtain this beauty

Hey Mike,

Yep, your plane flew sweet!!

I will be getting one of these, soon I hope. I have a YS-91 just sitting here waiting for a plane, perfect combo I think.

I thought about asking to try it out, but after my "inverted touch and stop" with my Yak, I figured on sitting the rest of the weekend out.

Well, guess I'd better speak up (NO! Flatlandman isn't paying me! LOL) I did see the 2nd half of the 16 pointer, he NAILED it!
Lil History of the Fusions, Mike (Salmon) wanted to design a plane that would do it all.......long story short, he did! This plane just locks in and goes with anything you throw at it. Both sizes offer a two pcs wing with no external mounting tabs. The kits are 90% laser cut and both the ARF's and Kits have a dual carbon fiber I-beam system thru the fuse that makes them strong as all get out! No more snapping in half behind the LE. I could go on and on but the plane really speaks for itself in the air. It is worth checking out the build manual on the website to see all the cool stuff and thought that went into this plane. (www.ohiomodelplanes.com) OK, nuff sounding like a commercial........but this plane ROCKS!

I saw this plane and thought about for something to fly until I can get enough dough together for a larger plane. I've got a Saito .91 from another plane I could put into it. You think it would be enough for basic 3D? I'm no where near the "hardcore" level and still very much just learning. Otherwise, I'll find an inexpensive 2 stroke for it (don't want to buy another top dollar 4 stroke just for this).

They told me a saito .82 would rock this for 3d!!
So I'm sure the 91 would be fine!

Dave Mike was paid 1k for his statement hehe

Well thank god more people witnessed than i thought i might not be able to pull that off again.

I'm sure that 91 would be enough to fly this plane in full on 3d in fact i think that might be the perf motor my friend here has one on a kat70 62 incher that weighed almost the same as this plane and we get some great performance from it. The great news about that motor is you will get a lot more run time on the tank of glow fuel we get near 30 minutes on the kat70 and stock tank. Just keep it higher till ya got the hang of the 3d moe your trying out.

Kenny I didnt know you wanted a flight. I would have had you be my spotter then through the tx in your hands and made ya fly it. You have to get back on the horse and perfect that inverted touch and stay.

No prob bro,

I wasn't scared to fly, just felt like drinking after the mishap!! I never mix alcohol and flying , once the transmitter went in the case, it was all about the cooler

Watching Mike, Forrest, and the boys beat the cr@p out of their fusions during the Huckfest, I finally broke down and bought one of the .46 sized kits. Mike let me twiddle the sticks on one before I bought it and that was enough to push me over the edge!

Another thing I loved about it was that it's a .46-sized kit that actually performs with a .46! The model Mike let me fly just had a little GMS .46 and some cheap Hitec 325 servos....but it totally rocked in the air! Tons of pull-out and very smooth and precise.

What really impressed me though was when I opened the kit at home and started building. This kit is absolutely top-shelf!! The laser cutting is FLAWLESS and the parts fit tighter than anything else I've ever seen. And the wood!! The wood in this kit is as nice or nicer than even the Carden kits I've built....totally blown away.

I'm a picky SOB when it comes to kits....what most people may blow off as no big deal really drive me nuts. But this fusion kit is awesome!

I spent one afternoon on it and managed to get the fuse and tail feathers framed up. When I find another couple hours of free time, I'll get the wings built. Can't wait to get this one finished!! I think it'll be the perfect practice beater plane for when I don't want to haul out the big birds.
